"How do they do that?"
A couple nites ago, I was cruising around with my gf. Making a left turn at a light behind 2 nasty looking cars, 1 was a sparkling lime green CRX with stickers and the other was a color-mismatched slammed Teg. The teg was in front. They made slow turn and the Teg seemed about to stall. I moved to the left lane (at normal speed) to pass them. The CRX pulled to the right. My gf told me, "he wants to race" so I looked over. The driver is a skinny teen boy. He had a passenger. His windshield was all smashed up. I downshifted to 2nd but didnt do anything yet. He heard the downshift so he floored it. What I heard was so funny. It's hard to describe. It sounded like he had loosed metal pieces in his exhaust. I went WOT, caught up but couldn't drop him. End of 2nd, he was still by my side. I got greedy and hit the limiter. Shifted to 3rd, he was still there. I hit 80 and let go. By that time we were at the next light. My gf and I were laughing so hard because of his exhaust noice. I was gonna roll down the window and give him a thumb up but he didnt look over. I couldnt help but laugh my ass out for the next 30 min. My gf kept asking, "what was it? why it sounded so funny? what was it?" I had no clue. Does anyone know what it was?

it's when you get your exhaust welded at a cheap shop, and they get little chunks of metal stuck inside the resonator holes in the muffler. It makes a horrible sound, this happened to one of my friends who tried welding his mffler himself.

That sound could be from a poorly gutted cat.
