Hood latch

Just as the owner's manual suggests, I close the hood by dropping it from about 1 foot up, while at the same time pushing down with one hand. But do you guys find that you have to push down with a fair bit of force or else it wouldn't close? I'm just wondering if the hood latch is misaligned.

just let it drop, u do not need to put any extra force on the hood, it will close by itself.

im afraid to drop it. i usually let it down gently and then push down to close it fully, and yes i do use quite a bit of force to close it.

Im w/ scooter on this one. I usually lay it down gently and then once its down, I press it w/ my hand to close it. Just don't like slamming things. Same w/ trunk. I close it gently and then push it down to lock it.

Dont slam it, but also dont place pressure on the hood because you may end up creating a dimple/ding wherever you place the pressure with your hand when closing it.

What I think he (CanadianTypeS) is saying is that the hood sometimes doesn't shut by simply dropping it. It goes down, gets latched a bit, and its still not closed. There is another inch or two to go before its locked shut.

Sometimes the same thing happens to me. Takes either two or three drops or a second push to close it.

I doubt that this is a biggie though.

Not if you have the full mask on, then you need to shut it really hard !

Your right of course. I know that this will date me but I prefer the "braless" look.

Al Uminum was right on about what I was trying to say. I would drop the hood, even with a bit of a push with one hand, and it would just make it past the safety latch. And it may take one or two more tries with a firmer push to close it securely. I don't want to really push down on it or I might dent the hood. I'm just concerned that the strike plate and the locking mechanism may be out of alignment 'cause with all other cars I've owned the hood will lock securely if you just drop it from a few inches up.
