More Honda Factory Performance vehicles to debut next spring
By MARK RECHTIN | Automotive News
LAS VEGAS - Following the sales success of the Honda Civic FP, American Honda Motor Co. will bring out two more higher-spec vehicles with factory warranty coverage.
The Honda Accord FP and Acura RSX FP - FP stands for "factory performance" - will go on sale in spring. Like the Civic before them, volume will be limited to 1,000 units per model.
The modified Accord and RSX will not have any under-the-hood changes but will be based on the highest-performance vehicle in the lineup, the 240-hp V-6 Accord and the 200-hp RSX Type S.
Changes for the Accord FP include upgraded shocks, rear spoiler, special shift knob, 17-inch alloy wheels and tires, aerodynamic underbody kit and high-performance springs that reduce ride height by about an inch.
The RSX FP has engineering changes similar to those of the Accord, but adds slotted brake rotors and performance brake pads.
The parts packages will cost less than $5,000, not counting installation by the dealer, which takes about six hours, said Stony Furitani, American Honda manager of accessory marketing.
Honda is considering under-the-hood changes. But Furitani said Honda must balance its desire for increased horsepower with fuel economy and emissions and also consider increased warranty risks.

SECOND
The Honda Accord has won the CAR OF THE YEAR award for 2002-2003 in Japan. This is the 3rd time the car wins the title since 1985. So that is good for our future Acura TSX since it will basically be the same car (only better). Interesting to note is that this is the 3rd consecutive time that a Honda car has been awarded this title after the Civic and Jazz the previous years.
Dont be fooled by the Japanese title. Not only Japanese cars participate. For example this year the Accord competed with the finalists which were the Mazda 6, the ÂÌW MINI and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

trying to get a lil V-I
FP??? just doesn't have the right "ring"...doesn't sound performance oriented at all....
Plus the price is completely outrageous...$5000 w/o labor for a body kit, spoiler, springs, wheels, etc???
are you kidding me?
