High Speed Chase

Headed home, had a couple beers at the pool hall so Dad was driving. 2 nights ago, It's about 11:30 PM, kind of rural Maine, nobody really on the road...Anyway, we were almost home when this truck goes by and WHAM, something hits the windshield.........I'm like WTF, thought it was a rock, I figured I had a cracked w/ shield, but nope, it was an egg........Dad's like, that was an egg, so he whips the CL around in the road and we take off after them. He's an off duty Police officer in the next town over, I'm in the Army, they picked the wrong vehicle to hit with an egg. Anyway, we catch up to them pretty quick, and proceed to be in constant contact w/ the local PD's while we follow them and try to read their muddy plate #. The whole time they are flipping us off, throwing stuff out the window, etc.........They were in a mid 90's Chevy Z-71 truck, they tried to get away near the end but there was no way they were going to lose us unless they went off-road. They got on the Highway at one point, but to their folly they got off and went back into the local area where my Dad has worked for the last 15 years.......Anyway, after about 20-25 minutes of following them we finally get a unit to get to where we are and pull them over. What a rush, I was ready to crush some skulls in if there had been a confrontation, the prob is we didn't know who was in the truck or how many. Plus, I don't need a civil suit against me. I knew Dad was packing, we just didn't know if it was a couple career redneck degenerates w/ deer rifles or something, so, we stayed back enough so at stop signs if they jumped out we wouldn't be surprised.......It turned out to be 5 juveniles in the single cab truck, the cop questioned them all separately, one of them admitted to throwing the egg........they got the driver for Criminal mischief, speeding, ........2 of the other punks had suspended licenses they were using for ID'S, so they got tickets for those, all in all justice was served. I really wanted to see them run when the blue lights came on, but they didn't. This was in Maine, I guarantee they didn't think they'd hit a car w/ that much HP that would turn around on them. Pretty good adrenaline rush, felt like we were chasing bank robbers! I knew all that horsepower was good for something, can't wait till I get some headers. Dad loves my car even more now, I've been telling him to get on it but he doesn't, always shifts around 3,000 rpms, but he finally got his chance that night. CL- 1, Losers - 0

Damn all that for a egg getting thrown at you. You guys anger way too easily. I would have just let it go. Why put yourself & others at risk over something so minor?

I'm glad they caught those losers, eventually they'll kill someone, maybe your wife or family member with an even dumber stunt.

Good job Bro !!!!!!!!!!

the more they get away with, the more they'll push it and do even more, eventually probably harming someone in the process.

WHAT!?!?

if that egg hit a painted part of his car, forget it. the paint would've been ruined. and it would've come out of HIS pocket to fix it. could you imagine the cost of repainting the door if it hit that?

I was in a similiar situation like a month ago, I was sitting stopped at a red light and some guy made a left in front of me .. whether it was intentional or not I dont know, but they threw a beer bottle out the window .. well I was looking down playing with my newly installed Alpine 9833 head unit so I didnt see what happen, nor did I know what happened, I just heard a loud noise. after the light turns green I make my left and then it dawns on me that I think I got hit with something .. so I pull in a self serve car wash under the lights and sure enough theres brown beer bottle glass all over my hood .. it hit my drivers side fender and exploded. fender is dented, scratched, and ruined. 500$ out of my pocket, if I would've known what happened, I would've chased the fuckers down .. I didnt buy all those power mods for nothing.

Hey, I raised some hell in my teens too, but we never threw shit at moving vehicles.......If my Mom or Grandmother had been driving they prob would have gone off the road, and then what, if they had hit the wrong car with an egg someone could have died. It wasn't THAT much of a high speed chase, just the short time it took us to turn around and catch up with them, about 1/2 mile to a mile, up hill too by the way. I don't think their truck could do much more than 80, 85, the CL caught up to them pretty quick. Other than the 1 car we passed on the 2 lane hill to catch up to them, there were no cars at all on the road until the cops came. We didn't want vigilante justice, we just followed the little f*#kers till we could read their plate # and get a unit in the area to pull them over.

same thing happened to me about a month ago, except i was at home and heard it happen. i ran outside, hopped in the car and took off after them. i got thier plates, and called the cops. the cops were waiting at thier house for them to come home. they both got arrested and now are paying bigtime cash to fix all the damage to all the cars they egged. repainting my hood cost them $708.

fuckers

I think it is a good thing you went after those kids. I read this story on CNN and it kinda reminded me of the incident mentioned in this thread:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/11/19/tu....ap/index.html

RONKONKOMA, New York (AP) -- Five teenagers were arrested in the hurling of a frozen turkey that smashed through a motorist's windshield, critically injuring her.

Police said Ryan Cushing, 18, threw the turkey from a car he and the other teens were riding in Saturday. It smashed through the car window of a 44-year-old woman who was driving in the other direction.

She was in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Cushing was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, forgery, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property.

He and the other teens allegedly stole a credit card to buy the turkey at a supermarket.

The other four teens were charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

Ronkonkoma is in the approximate geographic center of New York's Long Island, about 50 miles east of New York City.
