HID Question

My headlights seem to be loosing their blue tint. Is this normal? How much would it cost to replace them and is it difficult?

I've read somewhere that with age the HID bulbs actually increase the color temperature therefore loose lumens (output). If that is true, then how could they get yellower ?? more kelvins = more blue
weird.....

Could be that you got 4100k bulbs. If you're interested on getting a more blueish tint go with 6000k or 6500k HID bulbs. These HID's look like BMW/Benz blue.

First off, that's not normal . Your HID's should be getting blue'r over time and use. The cost of replacing depends on where you go. Here's a couple of sites that should help http://www.xenondepot.com/index.php , http://www.xenonfactory.com/products/hid/bulb.htm .

Good luck man!

Really? I was told that if one goes out, then if you want a more consistent look with your lights, then you have to replace them both. But that's cool that yours looks normal now.

the tech at my dealer said to not repalce both, although like your self i thought it would make sense to, he said i might not need to replace the other one for up to 6 months(been a month already) now i cant tell the difference, although the difference wasnt all that bad but i'm picky when it comes to shit like that. also the one that "burned out" actually shattered and i had to spend time shaking all the little pieces out. there was no debris or water in there, is that normal??

How did it shatter? Did it shatter while you were trying to take it out, or did it just explode without any reason?
