Hi everyone.....newbie here with a few questions

Hey everyone....I am from the acura-legend.com forums and I have been lurking around for the last few days here. I have done some searching but I have a few other questions if you dont mind.

I am in the process of selling my 1993 6 speed coupe and I am seriously considering a CL-S.

As a student, I am wanting something with a warranty.

So I am looking at the 2001 CL-Type S and the 2002 RSX Type S.

The car I am looking at has 60 000km on it (about 35-40k miles).

Driven by an older man, always dealer serviced, supposed to be in really nice shape.

BUT! I am so freaked about this tranny thing. Even if it is replaceable under warranty, is it safe?

Is there anyway I can check during the test drive to see if the tranny is going to have issues. The guys said he has had no issues....

How is the lawsuit/recall process going?

Is is attributed to people driving their cars harder? I have a lead foot sometimes....but shit....for a car like this, you should be able to drive it hard!

If the car over-revs, will acura cover damage to the engine itself?

Should I buy the extended warranty?

Also....what other common problems are there on this car?

So far I have seen bad tires and cheap paint....but I would really like some advice as I am going to test drive it this week.

What other cars would you consider in the $24000 cdn price range? ($15-18k US)

Thanks so much if you can set me straight! I am losing sleep over this car and I dont even own it yet!

Tranny has 7yr/100k warranty. If it craps out and something else is damaged due to the tranny failure, they SHOULD cover it. As far as over reving, I think the rev limiter (7200 RPM) would help prevent engine damage.
I love my CLS,
Other annoyances:
Brake rotors
Rattles
sunroof squeak
tires...thats all I can think of at the moment. good luck on your purchase you'll love the car.

the warranty will cover the tranny, so I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan to keep the car past 100k miles

the bose system is pretty shitty. I have heard (and it makes sense) that putting in a subwoofer with the stock setup makes a huge difference, since the bose won't have to handle any bass they sound a lot better...plus obviously the bass from the sub.

I got an 01 cls not too long ago, my only real complaint is that I wish I got something with a 6 speed...

other than that its a kick ass car

hmmm....that is what is killing me about giving up my 6 speed...but I cannot afford the 03. I also have a wicked Alpine stereo in the legend that will knock the socks off of any Bose stereo....Bose sounds so dry compared to the Type R Speaker line...

I guess as long as it has a CD player, I am happy.

Try to go for the 6 speed, you'll regret it. I had a 5 speed automatic 95 Legend coupe and always really wanted the 6 speed Legend, (too rare). I only kept the Legend 3 years and then got the 03 CLS 6 speed. They only made 2500 6 speed CLS's. Good luck.
