Help with Toyo T1S sizes
Some of you guys have put on 235/40 or 45s on either 17 or 18 inch wheels. Tire guy yesterday tells me the biggest tire they'll give me the 500 mi test drive is 225/45x17 due to rubbing.
Do you have rubbing with the bigger sizes? If so, where? Any documentation that bigger sizes fit our car?
Also, why did you not get S-02 Pole positions or Mich Pilot Sports?
thx for help with my CL-S

I thing about the Pilot is I think the price. It is $300 a tire and the is just about the same price for a new rim.

If your car is not lowered 235/45/17 should fit without any issues, from what I heard on the forum.
The word is that Toyo TS1 is a very competitive tire to Pilots and Pzeros, while they cost much less and give you very similar performance and comfortable ride.

I would have to disagree. Toyos are a very good tire for the price and are a very smart choice. But, if you have the cash, go for the Pilots then Poles. Just personal opinion though.
The only tire I used that I felt stuck better than Pilots were Yokohama A032r's.

I think toyo's are the best regardless of price because they offer amazing performance without a super-harsh ride.

If you are going to lower the car below the fenders, you better look around (my opinion).
Mike has 235/45-17s with Comptech lowering springs (Toyo proxies).
I love my Toyo T1S Proxies!
If someone would get a magazine for us, I would love to see a test of all of the top tires for our car. (Wishing and waiting, and waiting....)
However, I love the ride, wet weather performance (feels like I'm in the dry), hydroplane resistance, dry handling, smooth/quiet ride, and super reinforced carcass (no more rubbing the sidewalls).
BTW -- with my non-lowered car, I have never had a rub with the Toyo 235s (see sig) and they stick very well. No comparison to the stock rubber.
(opinion expressed are my own)

If the 235s go on 8" rims, and you plan on lowering to below fender level, you might want to think about fender rolling. (Note -- this is just my opinion from the look of the rubber and wheels)

I found the Toyo T1S Proxies, looked at the various boards, and found various people who had the Pilots and others liked the T1S better. I also have a friend that never has steered me wrong, and he said that they were great. Finally, I got them for about the same price as the RE-730s ($150-$160ea) vs the $230+ of the others you mentioned. So, I loved the tread design (I want to be safe in pouring rain on the freeway), and I like "smart shopping." I also considered that the Toyo's were a brand-new design. If you want the Michelin's or S-02s, maybe you should wait for their new tires (like the coming S-03).
my $0.02
