HELP! Problem with starting car... just got a 2nd replacement tranny in, too
Hi all,
About 3 weeks ago, my 2001 CL-S got its 2nd transmission replacement. Today I am having trouble starting the car. I have no idea whether these 2 events are related; I am only wondering becuase on the transmission replacement work order, it appeared that they chagned the ECU too.
Today's problem with starting the car: everything was working fine in the morning. In the evening, I shut the car off for about 15 min, and it won't start again. At first it was obvious that the battery was out (no beep sound when you click the "lock door" button twice on the remote; can't pop the trunk; seat won't adjust, etc). So bascially when I turn the key, absolute nothing happens. Now when we hook up the jump cable, we could hear the starter going off (clicking), but engine still will not start. We disconnected the jumpcable, and hooked up an volt meter (whatever thats called) to the battery; it was reading somehting like 5 volts when not doing anything, but would drop when I tried to start. Is this a problem with the alternator?
The car is at about 65k miles. Again it was in the shop 3 weeks ago getting new transmission.
I'd appreciate any input!

Maybe who ever worked on your car, shorted something..hence why your having troubles now.... My advice is call the dealer who worked on your car on monday. And get THEM to find out whats going on ...
