HELP! CLS6spd drivetrain issue!

Hey Fellas I got a little problem that i need to identify ASAP,

Whenever I engage the clutch from a standstill in 1st SOMETIMES it will take a tad longer to engage and then POP into gear and make a loud clicking or poping noise that sounds like its coming from the differential or something, almost like its slipping, ive never had a clutch go out so im not sure if this is a sign of the clutch going out or a bad differential?

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you

Every once in a blue moon (like half dozen times a year) mine will not want to go into 1st gear at a dead stop. Usually I can just put it back into neutral and then it'll slide into 1st like normal, but sometimes I have to let out the pedal, put it in neutral, and try again.

I think in my case it has more to do with the syncros than any clutch issue. It usually happens more often on a slight incline/decline.

Unless the clutch is slipping under acceleration, or you are getting constant grinding or mis-shifts I wouldnt worry too much. You could try using GM syncromesh tranny fluid instead of the Honda stuff, as many people have reported smoother operation with the syncromesh.

Are you sure you have first gear fully engaged?

If its not that, the throw out bearing may be sticking, but I doubt it as they small tangs on them that wrap around the clutch arm.

yeah let me try to describe it a little better. I have the car in first, and usually when i go to release the clutch the car will start to roll and i will ease on accelerator and fully engage clutch...like normal driving. Welllll today i went to ease off the clutch and the car didnt start to roll, it just stood still and when i gave it a little gas and engaged fully it made a loud pop sound and acted as if i released the clutch fast...but it doesnt happen every time... ALSO - i just had my wheel bearing replaced, do you think they could have put a old refurbished one in and that has anything to do with it?

The wheel bearing shouldnt have anything to do with it.

Where is the pop noise coming from? What is the condition of your motor mounts?

It could be a blown cv joint. Check it ASAP. DO NOT continue driving on it, it will destroy your diff.

Sounds like its not fully in 1st gear, even though you think it is. Mine will pop out of 1st gear under those conditions I listed above, if I dont make sure 100% its in gear.

Double check that the car is indeed in gear, like Joe5.0 said.

I run into that issue in my brother Accord a lot, it wont fully go into gear and you hear a clicking noise - which is the gears grinding. If its in just enough it will *pop* into gear, otherwise it goes into neutral.
