Helm and CLS 6600 RPM fuel cut-off -- what the ???

I was looking through the HELMs manual, and found the following paragraph on page 11-27. I am wondering about the validity of the paragraph (how could the car work with the fuel being cut-off above 6600 RPM. I think there is a mistake.

Here is the paragraph:

"Fuel Cut-off Control:
...
Fuel cut-off action also occurs when engine speed exceeds 6,600 rpm, regardless of the position of the throttle valve, to protect the engine from over-revving. When the vehicle is stopped, the PCM cuts the fuel at engine speeds over 5,000 rpm."

Would someone care to comment on how the engine can rev past 6600 rpm if the fuel is cut-off while driving. This must be a mistake -- or I'm missing something...

Perhaps the fuel is cut around 6600 but there is still some in the fuellines so it still revs to around 6900?

Dunno.
Maybe HELM smoked too much white stuff while they wrote that paragraph.

Maybe they smoked too much of something, since I've thrown the car into SS (and 2nd gear) and drove down a few twisties with the revs above 6600 for more than a few seconds. If they have some kind of "fuel reservoir", it must be gigantic!!!!

BTW, it won't be the first mistake you find. Just keep reading, some of the torque specs I have seen are absurb.

Technical writers understand the formating of grammar much more that the actual vehicle. So much for proof reading though...
