height adjustable shocks...

are you asking about height adjustable struts or height adjustable springs?
I think I read the Koni's had three perches for different height adjustment.
I have the TEIN SS coilovers. They can be dropped 3+ inches or raised a little under stock height.
A few have the Ground Control (soopa?) which only adjusts height, and you must purchase separate struts for best results.... and others have NEX full coilovers. I heard the NEX's suck...and the struts are easily blown...once that happens you're SOL

How much would I be looking to pay for Tein SS? How hard are they to install? If you guys had a dealer install, what prices did you guys pay?
How hard is it to change height?

They are similar to installing normal lowering springs. So if you are mechanically inclined...do it yourself. Honda tends to build their suspension parts to be fool proof.

You can just about do it without spring compressors (and using an impact wrench). It is a serious piece of cake. If you have never done it before but want to learn, the Honda suspensions are definitely the way to go.
To change height you jack up the corner (or drive on a lift) and spin the perches using the included perch wrenches.

Edit: The Tein springs can be upgraded. My upgraded front Teins are in awaiting for arrival and installation. The upgrades will put my front at 9kfg.

wow...so they are not going to have upgraded springs for the rear? How much is that going to run?
edit: wouldn't changing just the front spring weight and not the rear throw off the balance of the car. Seems like the change is pretty significant...

It might throw off the balance of the car...we'll see. Because of my drop, the front keeps bottoming out and the rear seems to be fine. I also have sways so that might counter any balance issues, but we'll see.

you probably don't have to...in fact I did a couple of times to fine tune the adjustment.
but it's highly not recommended. If the jack slips, your forearms will be caught between the tire and fender....SNAP...goes your bones
That probably wouldn't feel too good

Can you be more speific when you say a little under stock height?
Is it like an inch lower than stock height or even closer than that?
Also, when you turn the collar to raise/lower the car up or down does the spring compress/decompress ??
If so does that mean the higher you raise the car the more compressed the spring is and the more dampening you need?
The reason I ask is I want to get the TEINs, but during the winter I will have to raise the car back up to stock height for clearance issues.

That's the exact reason why I got TEINs...the winters here are horrible. oh...and I noticed you have a 1st Gen, I'm not familiar with the suspension setup so I don't know if they have TEINs for you.
Anyway, when I compared the stock spring/strut assembly to the TEIN coilovers at full height, visually they were about an inch or so different (TEINs lower of course). I've never set the perch at the highest setting so I don't have full proof.
I don't think the springs compress or decompress if height is changed. Basically when you change the height of a car the springs will stay the same because that's what is holding your car up. Anyway, I tried to draw a visual to figure it out myself but I think I'm more confused now.
Anybody else have some input on this?

So did you raise your car up this past winter?? If so did you have any problems???
What I was reffering to about the spring compressing/decompressing is when you turn the collar (pointed out in the link below) does the spring move with the collar or does the whole "shock casing" become longer???
Hope this makes more sense..

Oh and I don't have my first gen anymore, traded up for a TL type S that I plan on getting the TEINs for....

Of course you have to take the wheel of in order to gain access to the adjustment rings on the struts, I'm curious to see how the upgraded springs on the Tein's would feel. Does anyone know the upgraded spring rates?

However the shock won't lower the car. The springs determine the height of the car. If you put a shock that can be shortened or lengthened you are going to either bottom out the shock or over extend it with the wrong spring. The shock and spring should be matched so that the shock dampens the spring throughout it's length of travel.
