heater smells horrible
Hey guys, I was cleaning the car today (it was running) and niece was "helping" me, when she accidently turned the heater on... and it smelled like god awful swamp ass. I changed my cabin filter a few months ago... any ideas where this could be from? Should I just let the car run w/ the heater on for a while with the windows down? I dont remember this last winter.

even in houston, tonight i felt like i needed a jacket.
oh yeah, i think if u let the heater run for a while, w/ the air coming in from outside instead of recirculating. and windows rolled down, u should be fine. give it 45 mins - 1hr

At the lowest point in the heating and AC system is where the fungus you smell probably is. It is moist in that area. I would go to any large auto parts store (the old fashion kind) and tell them about your problem and they will have a can of stuff that you can pour into the vent system. Do what the directions on the can say and you will fix the problem. Some people say to spray Lysol in the vents. This only masks the smell and it will come back.
