Headlights On Warning Beep --> DISABLE?

I have a 2003 CL-S, and wanted to know:

I like to leave my headlights on all the time because it increases other's visibility of me in the daytime, and I like the way it looks when the lights power up when I unlock the doors with the remote. And because the headlights have an auto-off feature once the doors are locked with the remote anyway, there really is no necessity to turn them off manually.

That said, however, everytime I turn the ignition off and open the driver's door, I get the "headlights on" warning beep, which is extremely annoying. And when I'm getting back into the car, it's all beep-beep-beep, etc. until I actually start the ignition.

Does anyone know whether there is a fuse that can be removed or some other way to turn off the "headlights on" warning beep? If it is as simple as a fuse, does that fuse just cover the beeping, or am I going to be disabling other warnings, devices, etc, if I remove the fuse. Is there a way to disable it without removing a fuse?

Thanks for the help, I'd love to leave my lights on all the time, but the beeping is very annoying.

Isn't it bad for the HID if it flash instead of staying on constantly, especially in ur case flashes everytime you lock or unlock.

No offense but that sounds a little nit-picky to me. It's only on for the couple of seconds it takes you to enter and exit.... Unless you tend to unlock it and hold the door open for a long time. If thats the case, just turn them off.

Also, if they keep turning on and off all the time when you unlock it, prepare to buy new ballasts. They tend to go as it is. The last thing I would do is leave them on all the time. IMHO you're just asking to have to have one replaced.

I had no idea that the headlights turned off automatically when you lock the doors. Interesting. But yeah, I agree with everyone else, it's probably not a good thing to have them constantly going on and off.

Keep in mind also with HID's the do wear out over time. Having them on at all times at full strength will mean you will be replace HID bulbs that are expensive really quick. That's why DRL's are at half power.

Also know that if you get out of the car and leave the key in the ignition the lights DONT turn off.

Well, thanks for nothing.

I guess I'm just used to my old Murano that automatically turned my lights on and off for me...spoiled I guess. And yes, I do sometimes spend a decent amount of time getting in and out of the car...I usually have a bunch of crap I have to get out of the backseat.

BTW, are HID ballasts covered by the Acura warranty? Just curious...

Dash rattles are annoying
Not wanting to turn off your lights is lazyness

and yes this is really bad for your lights. Say you walk out to your car and unlock it and the lights come on. Then for some reason you don't get into your car within 30sec and it locks itself again and turns off the lights. Then you have to unlock it again and once again the lights have to turn back on. This is not how the feature was intended to work. It was intended to keep your battery from dying, not to save you the 2sec it takes to turn the switch to off.

I'll look at my Helms & try to find a way for you. There isn't a fuse or something you can pull, you have to find the little speaker & disconnect it.

They're covered by the 4 yr/50k warranty or the 1 yr /12k certification warranty if you bought it from the acura dealer.
