Headlight and roadlamp out.

I just went to go out and the passenger side headlight and road lamp is out.
It's dark out so I'm not going to mess with it in the dark.
Anyone got any idea's what the problem is?
So I'll have a head start of the problem when its light out...

richardparker 10-07-2009 07:44 PM

No response needed I'm about 90% sure its just the headlight bulb.
both high beams were on consitly low,and the one road lamp bulb was on really low. After unpluging the headlight bulbs connect, all the other lights work fine. What temp should I go with now?

richardparker 10-21-2009 11:57 AM

Finally got my new bulbs.
I think I got a deal,but waited 8 days for them.
I put my highest offer of 18 shipped on ebay and had 6 bucks that I earn from the month before. So to me I got them for 12 shipped.
Also I asked them to send D2R bulbs and got D2C's witch I've been told they will work but there mainly projector replacement bulbs and they will glare a little more.

Anybody using or had luck with this brand or model ?

Nice stack of money.

civicdrivr 10-21-2009 03:07 PM

Never heard of them. I wouldnt expect greatness for $12.

richardparker 10-22-2009 09:45 AM

Ok so I might need some advise on my head lamp problem before I just go buy everything.

I tried one bulb this morning and nothing and actually the old bulb looks fine too.
I cant go mess with it till my son takes his nap.Or I'll be trying to watch him with my head under the hood.

My problem was,1 night I went to turn lights on and nothing from the passenger headlight. After a beter look drivers side headlight was on and so was the drivers road light, both high beams were on really low like DTR lights and the same with passager side road light.
o'yea when I disconect the plug thats blocking the security screw to the the headlight bulb out all other lights are fine but the passenger headlight.

richardparker 10-22-2009 11:17 AM

Maybe balast just quit. Did a couple of minutes poking around and found blown fuse in fuse pannel under hood. I unpluged all lights and replaced all one at a time till got to the ballast plug and poped 2 more fuses right in a row.
Think it's the ballast?

dave586270 10-22-2009 11:32 AM

That sounds really tricky. Electrical is never an easy fix. Don't know what to tell you. I'm really surprised no one else has chimed in there two cents. Usually bulb problems are fixed with a quick bulb swap to see if its the bulb or the ballast since our cars are bag with 'em. But this is much more complicated.

Fito510 10-22-2009 01:30 PM

those are the bulbs that im using right now because i put an aftermarket ballast because mines had burnt out and i got them in 8000K they work just as good as the OE bulbs from the dealers

richardparker 10-22-2009 01:32 PM

Ballast smoked, changed bulbs, changed relays, then swaped lamp to the other side upside down to get the wires on and no blown fuses.
The ballast actually had a little stink to it,so now I need to find one.

civicdrivr 10-22-2009 01:36 PM

Just get some ballasts off eBay and wire them in. The OEM ballasts are not completely waterproof, so thats what causes them to burn out.

Fito510 10-22-2009 01:38 PM

yea if u get them from ebay ur just gonna have to cut some wires heres the DIY

richardparker 10-22-2009 01:39 PM

It was raining a couple days right before this, and I dont have the inner fender liners on.

richardparker 10-22-2009 01:40 PM

Am I going to have to plug the hole or will they fit right on.

Fito510 10-22-2009 01:43 PM

with the right kit it will cover the hole

richardparker 10-22-2009 02:47 PM

Does anyone know where a can a decent price factory ballast or a pair of aftermarket ballasts for short money.

Checked ebay for factory ballast and almost s#@! myself. $215 was the cheapest for 1.

civicdrivr 10-22-2009 03:07 PM

Thats about the right price for OEM.

Go to www.theretrofitsource.com and look at ballasts there. You can get a pair for less then $175.

richardparker 10-22-2009 03:19 PM

These will work ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Fito510 10-22-2009 04:05 PM

they will but your gonna have to cut the power connection from the original OEM ballast

dave586270 10-22-2009 06:44 PM

Just go into the GB section in the BM. There is a sale on entire kits. Like $60! Just do 'em both while your at it and save yourself the trouble of having the other one go out later. Then you can upgrade your bulbs if you want. Everyone that has bought 'em has great reviews.

richardparker 10-22-2009 08:52 PM

Ordered the cheapo HID kit with 10,000k bulbs this time so I can see witch color will look beter.
Shipping from cali kills me,always takes like a week.

If they were cheap ones from eBay GL! They tend to be hit or miss. You generally get what you pay for. Unless its a group buy from our vendors!

richardparker 10-23-2009 12:30 AM

Dam dave, you pushing those GB HID kits like your getting profits......
Are you?????????

Haha, nope. Maybe I should mention that. Lol, no I just know how much it sucks to have your HID's go out. Finding OEM replacements is ridic $$$, and finding aftermarket kits is hard to find quality. Most people just overlook the resources we have on the forum. Just trying to help a fellow member out! Doesn't hurt to support our vendors either

richardparker 10-23-2009 12:55 AM

I did actually look at the vender the first time you mentioned it.Thats for some direction man.Factory ballast do cost someone big time if they don't want to look around that's for sure.

richardparker 10-23-2009 12:56 AM

Whats up fluff, "mr fluff"

AndresRivera 10-23-2009 06:04 PM

when i bought my car I had the same problem!

It was my ballast!

so i went to my local Acura junkyard and they just received a 2001 acura Cl type s

And he sold me the Whole Drivers Side headlight W bulbs and ballast for 200 bucks

so i just replaced it and that was it!!

richardparker 10-26-2009 05:42 PM

Got the cheapo hid kit today.
It dont really look bad, actually 1/3 the size of the factory ballast.
Can I leave the factory ballast on one side and use the aftermarket one one the other and produce equal light?

I dont feel like doing both if I dont have to.

dave586270 10-27-2009 05:57 PM

It might have the same output but your colors will most likely be off. Better to do both now, and save the hassle of taking it all apart again.

richardparker 10-27-2009 06:29 PM

I got both housings done. Its been raining here all day so The rest of the install is going to have to wait.
Last time I did my halo's I put the parking light and direction bulbs in without wiping them off.As a result I put moisture into the lamp and it took a couple of days to get it out.As soon as I turn the lights on it was all fogged. And that thought still haunts me.Thought I was going to have to recrack the lights right after I just sealed them.Hopefully tomorrow I can put up a pic or a start up vid.

dave586270 10-27-2009 06:43 PM

There you go. I hate all the rain we've been getting here too. Made working on my system a PITA! GL with the rest of it, i'll be back when you get those pics up!

civicdrivr 10-27-2009 07:05 PM

Next time you buy a pair of sneakers, keep these:

http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...-box-rust0.jpg

They are silica packets and they are meant to suck up moisture. Put one in each headlight, seal it, and leave it there overnight. It should alleviate your fogging. If not, your seal isnt tight.

richardparker 10-28-2009 03:38 PM

Lights are in,going to slap the bumper cover on now. Will take a pic or 2 to see how they look when it gets dark.Ahh s!#@, Cheapo HID's.

richardparker 10-28-2009 07:16 PM

Trying to show the lights.
They're 10K they are bright as hell and I cant aim the car at the camera at all, crazy glare .
Also tryied to give a veiw of the devil eyes but, they would'nt show up good on the vid.

Fito510 10-28-2009 11:34 PM

those devil eyes look hella tight

richardparker 10-28-2009 11:49 PM

The vid can't pick them up.
How about this:

dave586270 10-29-2009 02:11 AM

richardparker 10-29-2009 08:16 AM

3 stage, everything PPG global,PPG vibrance prizmatique flakes.

dave586270 10-29-2009 12:41 PM

Huh, so its not the factory silver?

richardparker 10-29-2009 01:06 PM

Factory base color, but it's not factory paint.

dave586270 10-29-2009 01:11 PM

Got ya, i'd like to see that up close in person. Interesting...

Fito510 10-31-2009 04:47 PM

dam that looks hella tight so is there any easy way to open the headlights without putting them in the oven

richardparker 10-31-2009 05:04 PM

maybe but, I always use the oven.
You need yours done ?

dave586270 11-04-2009 12:14 AM

Either the oven or a heat gun like I did. I wasn't thrilled about the oven so I used a heat gun to control the heating.
