Has anyone ever removed the mid-muffler from the Comptech B-pipe? I want to get the B-pipe and pretty much just use it as all pipe, but i want to first know if anyone has done it?

not sure if anyone's done it.. If you just want piping, go to a muffler shop

its just piping. Dont cut up a rare and expensive B-pipe just for the piping.

How much do you think a shop would charge for custom piping?

Depends on the shop and what materials they use.

Yea, cuz Comptech puts that super awesome coating on the piping to make it sound awesome when your VTECs hit.

Its just a pipe, especially if you plan on cutting the resonator out. If you plan on doing a complete exhaust (including 2.5" cat), plan on cutting off the flange where the cat meets the b-pipe. CT used a 2" flange for the people that run the stock cat. Its makes no sense to me why anyone would want to keep the stock cat.

Theres always a loophole. IIRC you can run an aftermarket cat, it just has to be carb legal, and you have to make it look stock (i.e. stock flanges, not welded in place).

its just the same regular piping you can get from any muffler place. and if you remove the resonator, you wont be able to tell the difference between comptech piping and muffler shop piping.

I'm from Cali, born and raised. You have to be smarter then the emissions.. get a bolt on HFC or test pipe. emissions comes around and bolt your stock cat up... had been doing that for ever..

I'm with the previous posts. Don't hack up a good B-pipe. Comptech spent quite a bit of time on sizing and placement of that resonator to minimize the drone.

you can get vibrant stainless steel tig welded mandrel bent custom exhaust. I was quoted 500 by a shop for installing cat, resonator, custom piping, and mufflers.

But see, with persistence, i could eventually find a B-pipe for around $200 and then spend an extra $50 to get the mid-muffler cut out. The flanges would also already be there, and i could always just weld the mid-muffler back on.

i payed $250 for my b-pipe and that was after being on this site for years did i come across it. the only reason why i bought the pipe was because of the blower. if your not FI or got extensive engine work like civcdrivr, upgrading exhaust is really pointless. but we all know your love affair with comptech so knock yourself out.

A stock motor could still benefit from a 2.5" exhaust.

well im sure it would benefit but i dont think it would be enough to warrant spending x amount of money on it. if all i had was intake and headers id just get axlebacks and call it a day. they would only be for looks and sound.

^ Agreed. If you upgrade to a 2.5" cat, I suggest getting a full exhaust though.
