Hairline cracks in windshield?

Bought the car in December, has 5500 miles on it, and have noticed two hairline cracks in the windshield (can only be seen if the sun angle is correct) - one is about 4 inches long, starting about half way up the drivers side. The other is about 1/2 inch long just above my line of sight straight ahead- can feel them with a fingernail, but are REALLY thin.

There is no evidence of object impact near either crack....

Anyone seen anything like this?

TIA

Jim

Just noticed the cracks and want to have some info from the board before I talk with the dealer...

Cheers!

The honda element is having a lot of problems with stress cracks. I heard it was a factory problem with the windshield frame and that the fix was to beat the edge down before they installed the new windshield. I don't think this is related to your problem but doing a search for the Element problem might give you some insight on stress cracks.

Also, you might want to have your insurance look at it before you take it to the dealer. They might give you some insight ... the only problem with that is, if your dealer says it's not covered and your insurance has already looked and verified that it's a factory problem, you might get stuck with the bill!.
