I had the one on my Legend replaced once years ago and didn’t notice a difference.
Are you sure they used an OEM replacement and not a cheap substitute.

Check the text and code numbers on the windshield and see if the name brand matches the rest of your glass on the car.

Isn't there a bulleton out regarding the molding around the windshield ? Perhaps, they didn't install it correctly ! I'd bring that puppy back to the dealership or windshield repair shop and complain !

I mean glass is glass right? It looks the same as the old one. Hmm now you got me wondering. Its already been replaced twice this week because the fucking dealer broke it when I asked them to tighten the mirror.

Glass is NOT glass when it comes to windshields. If there is one part on your car that should ALWAYS be OEM, it's the windshield ... unless your driving an older model car where you can't get OEM glass for.

Well I figured out what the problem is. Let me explain how FUCKING PIST I am. I am soooooooooo fucking pist. This is the deal. I am driving around trying to figure out if I am going crazy or if there is in fact something wrong with this car. So as I drive along I pin point the noise is coming from the right hand side. So I go get my wife and have her drive me around. What the fuck do you know? There is air coming through the bottom of the windshield. So much air that it blows a piece of paper around. Now mind you I have the AC off and recycle turned on.
At this point I am about to blow my top off. Then my wife cracks the drivers side window and it creates a vacuum effect and the air gushes through. At this time I start running my hand across the whole bottom of the windshield and realize there is a small leak also on the corner of the drivers side. Needless to say someone is getting there ass chewed out tomorrow and its not gonna be a good day. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I should approach this? Should I ask for my money back? Should I make them pay for me to have it done somewhere else?

When I had to replace my windshield for my Legend...I brought it to Acura Southwest and I know for sure they installed an OEM windshield...It was a perfect fit and I had to drive around with a blue tape on for about 48 hours...Apache Glass, Apple Glass, etc...most of them use aftermarket windshields...which means sometimes it may need to be adjusted to have a secure fit...basically it comes down to how good the installer is...Plus as most aftermarket items, its alot cheaper for the companies resulting in lower quality...I suggest politely taking it back and requesting an OEM windshield...if they do not have one in stock call other dealerships around town..Plus, alot of these aftermarket windshields are not as thick so next time a little rock may not hit as hard but it will still make a crack...

You think it would be wrong to make them replace it with an OEM one? Should I have to pay the difference?

I dont think you should pay for the difference...at least not now...considering the inconvience they are putting you through...show them the problem with the windshield they installed now...complain about lost time,etc,etc....It seems like they did a crappy job anyways...

I agree! Have them reinstall an OEM windshield at no extra cost. Be nice!!!! If they start to hassle you, then start making demands. If that doesn't work, go to the dealer and ask them what they could do for you. I have a feeling Apache will be more than willing to make amends.

The whole time i read this string I thought the same thing NOVA said. Be polite, but imply/suggest you may complain to the dealership that recommended them. Point out that you understand they tried to do a good job, but that you would like (don't demand) OEM glass. Sympathize with them, and then get them to sympathize with you - it works every time... Tell them you would LOVE to recommend them for their professionalism, but that you need the glass to be back to how it was when it left the dealership floor. It is tuff to argue against that. When they realize the dealership recommended them BECAUSE they adhere to Acura standards, they will be hard fought to refute that and say No to replacing. Extra cost to you? Not this time. Tell them you went to them becaus ethe dealerhsip told you it would be OEM glass, and that any quote you rec'd was based on an inherent assumption that the glass would be OEM. If they tey to push you, ask a manager to grab a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper and tak e a 10 minute ride with you.... Viola...

My $0.02.. you can keep the change..

The windshield also does more than keep the wind off your face.
Its part of the passenger airbag system. The passenger airbag pressed against the windshield for support.
The windshield also adds support for the roof and structural integrety.
A news show many months ago had a special on windshield replacements. They are also not supposed to touch the edges at all while putting it in, otherwise the adhesive breaks down in a few months.
Get it done right!!!
