H & R Sport Springs

My friend just bought a silver 2002 TL-S. The car got 400 iles on it and he just dropped it with H & R sports. The drop is 1.75 front/back. I must say that the car looks tight. The question is does this void any warranties with Acura? I mean come on the car has 400 miles and to lose warranty just because of springs is not worth it. Everyone I have talk to keep giving different answers. Anyone has a 100% correct answer?

Thanks

nothing that you do to the car will immediately void the warranty. if in the case that something breaks, the dealer has to prove that the springs caused the problem in order to deny you warranty. this is protected by the Magnusson-Moss Act.

I had a dealership tell me that since i had springs they wouldn't fix any squeeks and rattles. Then i brought my car in and they fixed my sunroof rattle, now it's worse. In general, springs won't void any warrantys.

If a service department wants to be difficult about modificatoions and warranties they will be. The reason I bought the Type S was to get more horsepower and the better suspenision with the bigger wheels/tires. I have heard horror stories of car owners being denied warranty work because of modifications.

There are plenty of people complaining about getting warranty work done without modifications. It comes down to the dealer and service department. Adding springs, bigger wheels and tires and other mods will wear stock parts more. This is considered altering the suspension. The dealer does not have to prove your modification did the damage, you have to prove it did not. Read your warranty.

So basically everything else that has to do with the car is covered besides the suspension and squeaks and rattles?

Thank you all for your input.
