GT3 vs 911TT

Need help with a car purchase. Any porschephiles on here? I know the basics, awd vs rwd 415hp vs 380. GT3 is susposed to be lighter and handle a little better. Anyone have any experience with either car or have read anything about them? Both cars would be new 03's. I would think the TT would have better drivability and low end power. Thanks for the help.

bro you should say who this car is for before everyone jumps on you. But I would get the 911 cause of AWD. RWD can't touch AWD in the twisties.

Titand19, there both 911's. The GT3 is the newly released 380hp N/A model. Its about 400lbs lighter then the TT.

911TT would be the way to go. If youve got the $$$, might as well go for the TT and blow damn near everything out of the water. (For instance, look at the Motortrend or Road and Track from a month ago) Nothing came close to the TT out of 10-12 cars except for the Enzo which beat everything in every category.

Actually I'd prolly go with the GT3. It's newer so more rare, and it's almost as fast as the TT. Also it's like $50K cheaper.

But you're in NY and might appreciate the AWD in the winter.

My dad has the '03 Turbo...
We went out with many people and looked at both, drove both, and he even has all the materials for the new exotic that he and his partner want to buy as an "investment".

Anyway, the GT3 is truly a driver's car. RWD, shi+load of power, , light, lacking the amenities--it is insane. I'd say for anyone who truly knows how to drive and has the decent weather to do it in, this is the car to have. It is best characterized as "balls to the wall"...
That being said, the Turbo feels quicker as the AWD hooks up instantly. The car feels tighter and is more "confidence inspiring". It's nothing like the old those TT conversions that were RWD and over 400hp where the a$$ slides out faster than Jenna Jamison (something the GT3 does easily as well). As Hurley Haywood told my dad, it's a car for the rich, idiot driver (my dad wasn't offended). You really can't break it loose, can't mess it up, and the weather conditions mean nothing...

Needless to say, he got the Turbo (if it were ever my choice and I had $$$, I honestly would have gotten it as well). He shifts it like an old lady and it still will wax virtually anything on the road with nary a tire squeal...Got a good deal, too...

GT3 is a racecar basically; completely amenity-less. 911 turbo is a awesome all around car.

For the street, I would get the Turbo.

Track, most likely the GT3.

agree with Beltfed. The TT is more of a daily driver than the GT3, but in the hands of a competent person, the GT3 could provide you with more goose bumps

I sent you a PM on a link to check out.

Personally, I'd get the Turbo, esp. if you live in the snow. If you plan on tracking the car a lot i'd maybe consider teh GT3, but the turbo is faster in normal conditions. Also, it's amazing the prices the turbos are going for, you can pick up 01's w/ less then 20K for high 80's low 90's

Thanks for all the responses, I got a chance to test drive a GT3 yesterday, the performance is great, but for an everyday ride its just too harsh. Handles likes it on rails, pulls HARD through every gear and my eye balls hurt when I hit the brakes, but like many of the posts said, it wasnt a car built with the intentions of being a car used on the street. I did however find a 03 TT, Seal Grey/Black Leahter with aero package and a ton of other goodies.... Ill keep you posted and thanks again.

What dealer did you get a GT3 test drive out of?

That is a hardcore limited vehicle, I'm surprised they let someone take a spin in one without leaving a deposit at least.

The MSRP on that Turbo I'm sure is well over $130k......Aero kit and a "ton" of other goodies.

You can get like $8-$9k off Turbos though.

GT3...N/A. Only slightly slower than the TT, but it's suspension is more tuned for sport. I would take the GT3...nothing like the sound of an N/A engine

you can get more then that, 03's are flying off dealer lots for DIRT CHEAP! I think you can even find ones w/ the X50 package new for around 125-130. That's an 18K option!

And you can mod them so easily

not really, this guy got lucky, most dealers wouldn't let you test drive one. But if you are serious enough they usually accomidate you. Personally, i'd never buy any car w/o driving it. I don't know how dealers get away w/o letting you drive one before you buy it, but they do
