Great R&T article. Finding the best-handling car for road and track

http://roadandtrack.com/features/art...?articleID=220

I thoroughly enjoyed this article. What do you guys think? Some pretty impressive numbers by the Z06, Lotus etc. I was a bit disappointed by the performance of the M3. I had no idea it weighed so much!

The players who qualified for the competition are the BMW M3 Coupe, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the Ferrari 360 Modena, the Mazda MP3, the Porsche Boxster S and the Porsche 911 Turbo. Added to the mix are the Lotus Elise and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII, two great-handling machines that soon will arrive at our shores.

Wish they would have tested the s2k.

The Mazda MP3 really opened my eyes. If I was just out of college with my first job, I'd consider it. Not expensive at all and handles extemely well.
IMO S2K should have been in the test. That car has no body roll at all and drives like a go kart. S2K very much feels like it is on rails in most aggressive driving situations. It is pretty cool!

All that handling can be achieved with aftermarket parts which is what Mazda used to achieve that level of handling. They basically...modded it for you with off the shelf aftermaket parts from Racing Beat. Think about it...some strut towers, lowering springs with upgraded struts...voila!!! Car handles like its on rails...the key is to get a car with Macpherson Struts and coil springs...I noticed that it takes better to suspension mods than the fancy ones that we have.
