Great Gas Milage! (All highway)

Alright well it was all highway, but a few of you didnt believe me when I said the mileage that my car was getting when it was all highway.

Well I drove to Maine on Monday and came back yesterday. When I was going up there, I was pushing a nice 85 mph the whole way. When I checked my MPG's, I was getting 25-26 MPG which is great. Here is the kicker. When we were coming back yesterday following the trailer with my new car in it, we were going no faster than 55-60 MPH. When I checked the mileage after a first top off (still had 1/2 a tank and there was one last time that we stopped. Conditions up north was all hills and shit while in PA and some of NY its a bit more flat) I was getting 33-36 MPG..

Oh and to prove this further, at that first top off, I had just over 250 miles BEFORE i even hit 1/2 tank

Very nice. On a trip from Minneapolis to Indiana last year I got 35mpg with the cruise set at 85mph most of the way. This year I managed around 30mph when I took the same trip a couple weekends ago. Part of that could be due to the braking we had to do with crazy rain in Chicago in the road construction areas (visibility was about 50ft).

These cars get pretty good mileage for being heavy with a fairly good sized engine. I'm interested to see what kinda increase adding a header will give me (currently have a K&N filter).

These cars, especially the manual trannys, always got great highway mileage. It's around town (and foot to the floor ) where it drops off a lot.
