Got an Unexpected Phone Call from Acura
I just got a phone call from Corporate Acura here at work. She told me they are having a hard time keeping Pre Owned CLs on the lot.
She went further to explain how they noticed I kept the car in good condition, and always went to Acura for scheduled maintenance. She asked me if I had recently put new tires on the car, to which I replied yes. Then she went to ask about the paint, to which i replied "Its in great condition". She said the service reps had nothing but good things to say about the car based on my records and she reiterated the fact that the car is in good condition. She roughly knew how much mileage was on the car, and asked if I was the original owner.
Then she said if the price is right, would I consider getting into something newer blah blah blah.
I told her "I'm Rick James Bitch!", and mentioned I had put too much into the car to consider a trade.
Anyone else ever get a call like this from Corporate Acura? Not the dealer.

Whoa...
Are you kidding??? Could it have been some kind of potential scam? I mean... Why in the hell would Acura call and propose something like this? Obviously, they'd be making money, but still... That doesn't sound like something I'd expect from any car manufacturer.

This happens alot, but I never heard of a phone call. I used to get flyers every now and then from Nissan about our Altima. They said that our car was of course in high demand as a used car, and that they would love to be able to sell if off their lots.
This is all about $$$. Its nothing more than an attempt to get you into one of their newer cars. They'd make money off the trade-in and subsequent sale, and of course they'd make money on the sale of a new car as well. Nothing new there.

Got da Internet Goin Nutz
Was this a david mcdavid up there in Dallas?
I got that call 2 or 3 different times after I went in for service. When I was ready to sell them my car with 81K miles on it they say no and that the mileage was too high. I thought that was strange because if you can get my number you can for sure get the amount of miles that are on my car.

I vote title inflation on the part of a local dealer ... I doubt it was really the corp office. Relatively same pitch happens when over zealous salesmen hang around the service writer and some poor SOB is getting killed on a repair. "Want to buy a new one?!"

Maybe they know your car/tranny is about to explode and want to get you out of it before it happens!
J/K!
Too bad they don't have a comparable coupe to entice us CL owners.

They're probably just trying to get prior Acura owners to buy a new car sooner then they normally would. Maybe sales are down and they're trying to give 'em a boost. The Inskip Acura dealership (which is sandwiched between Inskip BMW and Inskip Infiniti) has a bunch of used CL's on the lot, mostly 2001's which probably just came off the 39 month lease.
Sounds like a telemarketing type call. I wonder if they make a commision on sales

So you never bothered to find out how much they were willing to offer? ![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
Who knows, it might be worth your while. You should have at least asked.

i used to work in a dealership for almost 2 years.
It's not corporate calling you, it's a salesman.(woman)
you shoulda played it out and you woulda seen that she would have directed you to a specific dealership.
Acura can give 2 shits about used cars. their stock and profit is from NEW cars. Acura does NOT see profit from used cars, it goes all to the dealer. (unless it's the so-called "certified pre-owned")
damn I hate political correctness
