Got Smoked By Supercharged S2K

I got destroyed by an S2000 the guy said he had a comptech sc.
I lost by about 15 car lengths from a stop to 100mph then i gave up.
So I went and test drove one I was thinking of gettin it but there is absolutely no tourque. I was catching every gear but it didn't have any balls f-that I guess I can't mess w 4 cyl.

Did you test drive a blown s2k or an n/a s2k?

stock at a dealership, but i looked at the torque gains on the comptech sc it wasn't much

I'm sure it would be much faster with the sc but a sports car needs a bigger motor to begin with.

my Friend had the S2K supercharged. I was able to keep it close, before the S/C, since I'ma better shifter than him, but now he just blows me away.

i agree the one i raced in the 1/8th was behind 2/3s of the way down where he went by me quickly was the last 1/3 ran a 9.0 to my 9.4**

Hey typer - sorry to keep bothering you, but how is the ride man........ I am dying to see a good review on the 3.5 conversion. I am looking to either supercharge or go 3.5 in the near future unless money is right for the m3. Have you had a chance to open her up yet or are you still in breakin period?

its back in the shop...not engine related but from the original water damage i may have it back tomorrow

Hey - I have seen dude a couple of times myself on the beltway. He was pushing his car tho. Everytime i see him he is just chillin. Nice car tho! You can just look at it and you can tell that it will MOPP the floor with you!

Comptech SC alone will not likely make S2000 a 12sec car. Comptech SC usually gives about 60-70 rwhp gain. Since S2000 is a high 13sec car to begin with, it will need more than simple bolt on SC to be a 12 sec car in my opinion. And I am a regular at S2KI forum and I haven't seen any SCed S2000 in 12sec range yet.
I would say, 13 flat at its best. But for 4.5k, I would say it's worth it.

With the help from intercooler/aftercooler and various other BPU parts, I am sure it is just matter of time for a SCed S2000 to break into 12s. My co-worker has SCed S2000 and it is pretty quick. He is planning on getting an intercooler from Comptech so maybe he will be able to break into 12s?

Comptech units on the S2000 have been adding at least 100rwhp.

it's acctually more like 115 with the aftercooler but that's still a lifetime away from 12 matter of fact not that i mag race but i may have one around here showing high 13's on that setup alone

over on s2ki.com theres videos of him racing an //m roadster and beating it by a carlength by 1/8 mile and still pulling hard without using his 75 shot...the roadsters are running 13.0-13.2

My goodness, this forum is full of mis-information.

If there is anyone with Comptech SC and gained 100+ rwhp, I would love to hear about it. PLEASE. For instance, most S2000 put about 185-200 rwhp. After SC, they put about 260-275 rwhp at BEST. However, Vortech SC is known to give more power (since it's got cooler built in).

That video you guys are talking about, he drives M Coupe, not M Roadster. His car is S54 M Roadster (315hp version). He runs mid 13s in his car. Just because that SCed S2000 beat that guy, it doesn't mean, SCed S2000 runs 12sec.

As for M Roadster not running 13.0 sec. PLEASE. Have you even seen one at a track??? My friend ran 12.56 with STOCK S54 M Roadster. Decently experienced drivers usually get high 12s out of them. Average drivers get low to mid 13s. What do you think 315hp does in a 3100lb car? Think of power to weight ratio and broad power band (0-7600 RPM). Think of short wheel base and 13% average power loss instead of more commonly used 15+%.

I hope, I didn't come off like a jerk. But all these mis info was driving me nuts...

I'd much prefer a cetrifugal blower on a high rpm motor like the S2K.

I have a question for you since u seem to know about M's more than the people here. What is the CD of the M roadster and coupe? I'm asking because Z3M usually lunch very strong but after that they lose momentum. I mean after they shift to 4th they slow down gradually unlike the M3, Why is that?

Well I don't care how fast it is, IMHO that kit and wing need to go.

There's a nice red one around the area with a turbo I think. I forget what it has. Some sort of FI.

i think he just put the kit on for hot import nights in ATL back in august...i dont know if theyre still on, but when your that fast and sponsored to use those companies products, you can do whatever you want regardless.

oh my bad about the roadster/ i knew it was a coupe i dont know what i was thinking.

Oh my god...I hope this isn't the limit of this place........
M Roadsters from 98-00 has S52 engine. This is pretty much the same engine as E36M3s engine (96-99). Yes, it is 240 hp version and S2000 will run with these cars neck to neck.

M Roadsters from 01-02 has S54 engine. This is the same engine used in E46M3s (01+ M3). It has 315 hp for M Roadster and 333hp for M3s.

Is your cousin a member of S2KI forum? I know a lot of people there especially FI owners. What is his SN??? I want to personally ask him if he thinks his car is a 12sec car. I repeat, NO SCed S2000 has claimed to be a 12sec car from S2KI forum yet. I am not saying it's impossible, but I just haven't seen one. So if your cousin thinks he is the one, I want to talk to him. Fast Gold, I think CD for M Roadster is about .43 and M Coupe is about .36. These number are right off my head but they should be pretty close. Stock S54 M Roadsters come with 3.15 final drive ratio. If you upgrade your gears, it will not slow down in 4th and 5th as it does in stock from. My 3.46 pulls as strongly in 4th and 5th as in 3rd. Of course, .43 CD slows me down at high speeds regardless.

This is what i thought. I raced one(240HP version) when i had my cobra. He did really good in 1st and 2nd, but after that the cobra just pulled away. I was like there is something wrong. And it happend again when racing another one. I think the CD on those Roadsters are killing them with higher speeds.

Well, up to 3rd gear, aerodynamic does not come into play as much. Anything over 100 mph is when it becomes more obvious. I think your Cobra is just faster than 240 hp M Roadster. S52 (240 hp version) runs high 13s at its best (around 210 rwhp), but usually around 14 sec flat. I would say, very competitive against S2000 in performance.

S54 is a different story (315 hp version), but new Cobra is a different story all together as well.

But then, we have SCed S54s now. Now that is a story to tell.

I see that a lot of you are from VA&MD area. I am sure I will see you guys on the road often. Drive fast and drive safely!!!

actually mroadster, the s2 is one of my buds and the gs4 is my cuz..and i was refering to the 240hp model m, isn't the s2 a hair lighter too?

You are correct. S2K is a bit lighter but it lack torque as well.
All of following numbers are from Mustang dyno.

S52 M Roadster Vs S2000, I would say it comes down to the driver.

S54 M Roadster Vs SCed S2000, I would put my money on M Roadster but it's very close.

SCed S54 M Roadster Vs SCed S2000, no competition, period.

SCed S54 M Roadster Vs Turboed S2000, no competition unless Turboed S2000 can run sub 12s.
