Got to see the new CLK500 this afternoon...

all i gotta say is the pics do NO justice

the car's awesome, simply awesome!!! i scanned around the car for like 5 minutes looking at every nook and cranny

the guy had black with charcoal black wood interior...AMG wheels (which fit the rest of the car perfectly)...about 20% tints

i think the car's a real beauty...can't wait to see it again!!!

consequently, today was a great day for me in terms of car spotting!! in the course of driving around today, i managed to catch a silver 350 Modena, a black M5, a black on tan M3 convert, the CLK500, a spotless black CL-S, and a green Vantage convert!!

Long Island is FULL of rich people!!! y can't i b 1 of em?? :'(

i like the old CLK more..

this one resembles the c-class too much, its also small, and the interior is too basic..

the car looks like it is not ready yet...as in its still needs some stuff on it..just looks imcomplete.

on the MB forums, every other person is sayin the same thing too..new CLK is a step down..

on the other hand, the new E is amazing.

haha actually a lot of people are PISSED on the board cause they say the car looks too much like the CL-S and the new Accord..

go to their forum, and do a search with the words ACURA, and ACCORD in the NEW CLK forum.

it may be a step down in image being as it resembles the C class.

but in no other way is it stepping down.

it IS bigger inside and out...

has a better chasis, more technology, and a much more intelligent, albeit lackluster interior.

then again, the interior in the old CLK is one of the worst interiors that was still on the market in recent memory.

great in its day but outdated 4 years ago.

this guy experienced it first hand
http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...threadid=14560

at my dealership, they put the new CLK in the corner the first week..it got no exposure at all..when u see it, u will think it is really a c-class model..really the rear does look like a honda...

and the car looks small..it might be bigger, but it looks small in all three colors i saw it in....

its like a bitch car now, for girls...
its sad..i think the old CLK looked much more pimp

btw, the new CLK and our honda's have another thing in common...

amir... beauty is in the eye of the beholder... and like scooter said. its nicer in person...

rarely is a car loved before people adjust to it.

look at our CL... when the first photos appeared... the entire automotive world shunned it. including me. once i saw it in person tho... i bought one.

the new clk is nice IMO. not perfect... but an improvement.

for you to say it has no technology, especially over the last gen CLK... is a shame. it has tons of features gadgets and gizmos.

and BTW, the OLD CLK320 had just as much wheel gap. one of the upgrades in the 430 was a lower suspension.

and what the hell is wrong with Aluminum fenders?!? thats awesome. the more aluminum the better IMO.

after reading all of yer comments, here's some additional info from my end...

first off, i apologize, i saw the 360 Modena, honest mistake

second, Amir's so adament about this discussion, which is cool...rarely have i seen the Canadian NOT b a PW

third, to Adam, it was the cinnamon leather on the M3 convert, i just couldn't remember the name of it

fourth, Adam described EXACTLY how i felt about the CLK...in pics, it kinda looks cool...in person, it's almost like a slap in the face hardcore cool looking Benz...it looks fast and aggressive...back is a nice design, NOT tacky by any means...the speedo's give a hint of BMW due to the little chrome accents and guages...the steering wheel actually blends in with the interior when u see it in person...sure, a picture of the wheel alone will b like , but the eyesoar part of it subsides effortlessly as u scan the rest of the interior...just how i perceived it

5th, about the wheel gap...it didn't look THAT bad, especially this particular one i saw...it had the AMG rims pictured above but with Pilot Sports that were REALLY low profile...complimented the exterior to the point where the wheel gap didn't call attention to itself

i HIGHLY suggest u guys go check it out...granted, it's an expensive car, but like i said before, pics do NOT do it justice...it's beautiful, whether it looks like a CLS, Accord, or whatever...i think u guys would agree when u see it...keep in mind i studied the car all around for a period of time, not just glance at it from a distance and walk away...so my initial "wow" subsided enough to give my honest take on the car...it's worth seeing
