Well I'm sure some of you saw my previous post about getting stopped and released for doing 90. what's funny was that that same day, my friend got a ticket for a similar offense, and i kept rubbing it in that he got cited and I got away with a warning.
As I continued to laugh, 30 minutes later i get stopped for doing 41 on a 30 in Cupertino and get a ticket.

talk about karma...

 

that sucks..i got pulled over for doing 74 in a 50....almost got arrested for reckless driving....i got lucky......

 

you can get arrested for speeding? did u give the cop a huge attitude? I know they can take your license if you double the speed limit but thats about it.

 

In CA 20 over is considered 'reckless' and the fine goes up exponentially. I'm sure other heavily regulated states are the same.

 

So, have you gotten a radar detector yet? Even a V1 will pay for itself in the long run if it helps you avoid getting tickets!

If you live in a state where 20 over is reckless, that's sucks unfortunately. Because that's a very small window for speeders when you consider 10+ over is speeding.

So if the speed limit is 55, then speeding tickets are written only from 66-75 and after that, you can get a reckless ticket!!!!???? That's insane. Without doing the research, I'll bet that's in very very few states and in most states, you don't even get arrested for traffic violations. Do they enforce this?

liloj0414, my last ticket in Texas was in 1986 on I-10 between Houston and San Antonio (around Schulenburg) and it was for 110 in a 55 and all I got was a big [fat] ticket.

If you intend to speed, at least get a radar detector to help defray some of the costs.

 

back in december i got a ticket for doing a 96 in a 65. my thread is here somewhere about it. anything 30+mph over is considered wreckless. the judge did not accept supervision when i asked, and now i had to pay a 300 dollar fine and it goes on my record for 1 year.

so doing 11 over is nothing.

 

most i got nailed for was 30 over. 80 in a 50, 4 pointer. cop said he gave me a break. got it dropped to a 79 in a 50, 3 pointer. prosecutor said he gave me a break

that was my first ticket ever.

My best ever was 94 in a 65 in a Kia Sephia I was in TX and anything over 20 you're not allowed to take defensive driving. The judge was cool, though, he let me take defensive driving anyway. So, it never went on my record. I think the fine was something like 350. That sucked!!!

 

i know someone at work that got almost a $400 ticket for doing 105+ in a 70

 

The cop didn't ask how you got the car going that fast?

My worst was 90 in a 65 in PA, 2 points, 200$ ticket. 77 in a 55 in MD, 2 points, 200$ ticket.

Watch out...

I was on La Brea near 3rd. Moto-cops were pulling over people that were barely exceeding my speed (I was doing 38 in a 35 zone and the cars that got pulled over were only moving slightly faster in congested traffic.

I got a number of laser warnings from various Los Angeles streets the past days, and thought they were from LED tail lights, etc.

I was getting some stray laser on the V1 from motorcycle police doing some revenue collecting. I saw one of the cars and they couldn't have been doing over 40 MPH in a 35 zone.

Watch it *and* I'm not surprised about the 41mph in a 30 ticket with current city, state, and federal finances being what they are.

yea..in tx...anything over 20+ is cosidered reckless driving....you can get arrested for reckless driving....not speeding......

 

I got snagged going 90 in a 35 and i also got a failure to signal and unsafe lane changes but i never paid a cent.
