Got a phonecall from an Acura representative today...
*Phone at work rings*
Me: Hello
Him: Hello, my name is _________________ and I'm with Acura (something) How are you today?
Me: *suprised* Ummm, good, how are you?
Him: Good, thank you. The reason I'm calling is because of your recent transmission problems. How has the transmission been holding up since it was replaced?
At this point I'm really suprised because for one, I didn't expect them to care about the tranny problems since they haven't been making much effort to get it fixed in the last 3 years. And for two, I got the transmission replaced almost 3 or 4 months ago.
Me: Actually, I just traded my car in last week, but the transmission was running fine up to that point.
Him: Oh really? Did you stay with the Acura family?
Me: No.
Him: What did you buy this time?
Me: A BMW
Him: Really? Is that because of the transmission problems?
Me: Yes, that was the main reason.
Him: Well, I can absolutely understand that you're trying your luck with a new manufacturer due to these problems. That's all I needed to know. Have a nice day.
Me: Thanks, bye.
Maybe if they realize that they're losing "customers", they'll make more of an effort to fix these things.

Cruising in ATL!!
hahaha I see why u had that issue with the guy running 530I.. Was it you that he beat with his TL??? hehehe j/k... well as far as transmission problem, I considered going for different manufacturer but then again when it's supported by 100K powertrain warranty, it doesn't seem so bad..

Lol, no, I got a 540i 6 speed. He deffinitely wouldn't have beaten me
I wouldn't have cared if he had raced a lexus or benz, I'd still feel the same way. I don't like those heavy, underpowered BMWs like the 530is.

Can't be that bad. At least I haven't found anything like a whole "transmission problem" forum for the electric system on a bmw forum...yet.

BUY MY CL - see garage!
yeah, don't think i'm knockin your ride, that is one tight car.
i worked at a garage while in high-school and a few years past, and bmw's and vw's kept that place in business w/ electrics - still do to this day. at least transmission can be replaced/rebuilt, finding a short sux balls!

Yes, but how much does it cost to find a short, and how much does it cost to pay for transmissions after 100K miles? I had 3 different transmissions within 15K miles, lol. The one when I bought the car, one 7 K later and another one 7 K after that. YOu can ask one of these guys here, he's an Acura mechanic. His name is Akuratek and he replaced my second one. I don't even know how many the person who had the car before me had replaced.
I'm hoping not to have the same type of problems with this
I bought the car last July and sold in in April, that's 10 months. About 1 transmission every 3 months and 10 days.

Yeah, if that was me I probably would have kept it, but too many things happened in such a short time that I couldn't wait for the trade in values to go down even more. Too scared.

The only reason I'm driving an acura now is because they offered the 6spd in 2003.

Over 2-Years owned and I never had a problem with the Tranny, but I hated it because it was an auto.
Luckily I got 24K for in on the trade for the 6-Speed before the values really started to tank.

Wow, you got a great deal!
A dealer was giving me 10,000 - "at the most 12,000" for my CL-S with 67K miles and navigation.
Later I traded it in for $14,500, but they wouldn't come down on the price of the 540i much. That's the best I've heard in a while.

I for one certainly hope this makes them take more notice . . a bit of damage control might reveal how unhappy many of us are.
I looked at trading mine in after the new tranny, and still would if it didn't cost me so much to get something else.
