Got my first oil change today

First things first, I tell the guy that I have something loose in my trunk liner, which rattles. Got the car back in an hour and a half and its gone. The next thing I mention to the guy, is about how when I accelerate, I hear a background noise of a very high pitch scream. He writes this down so the technicians can take a test drive, and you wanna know what, they tell me it makes that noise because I drive with a cell phone. How ridicolous is that. And they test drove my car for 20 miles, which is a lot more than necessary. The last thing I told my service manager is, PLEASE whatever you do, do not wash the CAR. I get the car back with waterspots and parts of the car still wet from the carwash. I couldn't believe it. Anyways, they used Castrol synthetic oil, so I dont know if thats good or what not. I just wish these dealers would listen. I forgot to tell him when I dropped the car off about the sunroof TSB. I asked him if he could fix it real quick when I came back to pick up my car, and he told me it takes an hour to fix. I told him that doesnt he just put some type of tape on it, and he said no, its more complicated. I am 16, and kinda shy, I guess I should of been more aggressive to get what I want?

Synthetic is real good (I go 10,000 between oil changes with synthetic). Being agressive is not cool (especially for a 16 year old). Write down things before you go to the dealer and then insure that the service guy puts those things on the work order.. YMMV

Sorry, but are you inferring that since I am 16, I do not have the right to have something done correctly and properly because I am 16? If thats what you are saying, then you need to re-evaluate your viewpoint. Also, I came in with a list, and watched him write everything down on the work order. They still washed my car, and didnt do much about the whining sound I asked about. I asked the service manager very nicely if he could get a technician to put the piece of I think it is teflon tape to fix the rattle in the sunroof. He just said it was more complicated than that and that I would have to come back another time. I wrote this post in order to see what I have to do so that they do not wash my car next time, and take me more seriously. Thanks.

No, I didn't make my comment because you are 16. Being aggressive to a service person is not going to get you anything but problems. If you're not satisfied with the service contact customer care, and make note of the problems on the survey that you get. YMMV

Maybe it is because you are 16. How lucky you are, when I was 16 I had a ford escort. Anyway, I would like to make a recommendation for an ACURA dealer. If any of you live in the SO CAL area, it is worth it to go to Acura 101 West in Calabasas (101 exit Parkway Calabasas, right past the Mercedes, Volvo and soon-to-be-new BMW dealership). I bought my CL 6 mos old from a Gulf War Helicopter pilot, and he bought it from Acura 101 West. I have brought it in for service and warranty repair, and they do not bullshit you. Everything I complained about they fixed and didn't hassle me (Passenger airbag light always on, passenger window shakes hard when rolled down, loose thread on passenger seat, humming noise from car at high speed long turns) anyway they fixed everything. The humming noise is from my front tires-the inside tread is GONE. I think my alignment is off.

ANYWAY THE POINT IS....they don't jerk you around. They have a website http://www.acura101west.com and phone is (818)222-5555

Well I dont think it would be cool to put a peice of tape on anything....especially your sunroof But I hear ya sometimes you just have to be a pain in the ass and let them understand(nicely)that your not going to just go away when they dont do something that you asked them to do. The dealer that I bought my car was supposed to freshen up the back bumper because it had some little f*ck ups from transport and it took them three times to finally get it right. Dont take no shorts!

Why would you not want your car washed? I take mine in and get it washed and vaccuumed as part of the service. It's great.

do you have a glass mounted cell phone antenna?, they can, and do make a high pitched noise, but the best way to prove that theory is to take it off and drive the car

. The oil change was free. When my dad negotiated for the car, he got 3 free oil changes included. Darrin, I like that idea, I will do it next time.
