Got a Free Inspection from Acura = Laundry list of Repairs
Many thanks to my dealer who offered the free inspection, but as expected I got a list of recommendations (my car also has 110,000 miles with no major tune-ups, so I figured its true)... But for you hardcore CL veterans... is there anything on this list I can do myself, or something I can easily get done at a third-party repair shop or would it be a dealer exclusive repair?
Timing Belt Service: $1200
Cabin Air Filter Replace: $200
Fuel Injection Service: $160
Power Steering Res Flush: $120
Outer Drive Belt Tensioner: $120
Coolant Flush: $100
Transmission Replace: TBD

Timing Belt seems to be a little on the high side... i paid that much while getting the front breaks done. But yeah, timing belt should cost around $700-800cdn... incl water pump and labour. Not sure about the other prices, never did any of those.

There is a DIY for the cabin filter....its very nicely put....the timing belt is a little too high I would try to check out a third party shop and get quotes. If you get a quote...call the dealer and say that they can do the for x amount of money and sometimes they may lower their cost. Best of luck to you

-Timing Belt Service: $1200
a little high. Try to talk them down possibly
-Cabin Air Filter Replace: $200
Filters cost $15 at an auto parts store and there is a DIY on here somewhere on how to replace them. Again, a little high IMO (in short, take off the glove box and you will see a plate there. If it was replaced at some point in time, then it will be held down by 2 screws. If never, then you will have to cut the tabs and pull it off. Filters are behind it then rotate the cover 90 degrees and use the 2 screws to attach it again)
-Fuel Injection Service: $160
dont know what they would do here
-Power Steering Res Flush: $120
umm I can only think on what they will do with this and i'm guessing that they will dump the old fluid out of the tank and refill it. For $120? i'd do it myself.
-Outer Drive Belt Tensioner: $120
this might come in handy.
-Coolant Flush: $100
you can do it yourself if you have the time and jackstands to drain the block of water after you flush it... Read your owners manual
-Transmission Replace: TBD

Blown is Best
For the timing belt service, you should be getting cam seals, crank seal, new water pump, coolant flush, timing belt, tensioners, and new drive belts for $1200.

Thanks for all your input so far guys!!!!
Well, other thing is what does a 120k service entail?? Any of those listed?
If it does then I'm thinking I can maybe wait another 10k miles and do it then...
I know that these are FAQ's that I could probably do a search on... but hoping for straight advice.

Three Wheelin'
Doesn't sound like they even did an "inspection", all they did was go through the service manual and read off what the 105k mile service was and add in some other things.
A true inspection is when they get under the car and tell you that your tie rod ends are slightly worn and changing them will help your steering. This is just an example but it shows that they actually put time into your specific car and didn't just take make a general assumption based on mileage.
I guarantee if you changed your cabin air filter the day before it still would have shown up on the list.
Just be wise to the dealership ways, you rarely ever get something for nothing. This wasn't an inspection, it was a list of things that any car at 105K miles should have done to it.
I hate the majority of dealerships...

Timing Belt Service: $1200
A little on the high side, specially if its just the timingbelt and nothing else
Cabin Air Filter Replace: $200
Completely ridiculous. A tech can change those in under 15 mintues and there charging you atleast 150.00 in labor. Do it yourself
Fuel Injection Service: $160
Sounds about right but still expensive
Power Steering Res Flush: $120
They do more that pour the old fluid out of the containeer, they lfush the while PS system and get all the old fluid out of the rack too.
Outer Drive Belt Tensioner: $120
Easy to replace..i did mine when i did my drive belts..Just gotta pull the dipstick and 3 or 4 bolts and its out.. But i guess 120 isnt bad if you dont know how to do it.
Coolant Flush: $100
Again easy to do and easy to save money
Transmission Replace: TBD
