Good ole'fashion Hot Rodding stuff?

I see many of you are modifying your rides with headers, cold air intakes etc. , but has anybody looked into internal engine mods? Camshaft swaps, head porting, boring and stroking the block? Comptech, I believe, is basically a machine and fabrication shop who is touted, by their own admission, as having their engine won the 2000 indy 500! So, how come we haven't seen any cam and head packages available? I would love to see the potential of this beautiful engine realized! Any thoughts from anyone?

I might be interested in the above but only after my warranty has expired.

You can get 300+ hp out of this engine without major engine work. How much were you looking for? A SC or turbo would help if your bored....

I agree the warranty issue is something to consider, but head work alone shouldn't void the warranty. Some of the other mods I mentioned probably would. Turbos and SCs are great, but have to be engineered with the appropriate fuel and spark maps to work. Not to mention the expense of all the R&D etc, etc.... Have you seen the price of Comtech's SC for the NSX, $10,000 that's a third the cost of our cars! Eventhough our cars share the Accord platform the drivetrain is exclusive to us which is going to add to the expense of a power adder. More then likely we are going to need an intercooler as well, because our compression is so high! I would be shocked if Comptech's SC package was less than $5500 ...If Comptech were to develope a CNC porting program for the cylinder heads and intake manifold or extrude hone them, I would be willing to bet we could get 350 Naturally asperated HP for around $1500-$1800.Throw in headers a bigger throttle body, CAI and who knows 375-385 HP? Can you say M3 for lunch

Sounds good, but from Comptech's perspective, and most other aftermarket developers, it's not worth their time to develop because the market interest is too small. Sure, there are people on here that are ready and willing, but the owners on this board are only a small percentage of the CL owners out there.

I still think minor tweaking with headers, cai, v-afc and fuel presure should give reasonable results. If your goal was 350-400hp ya should look at the s2000 or other Hondas with a sc. Pick a used integra or civic up and tear it down.
