THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

BUTTTTT i doubt it. How would taht make sense. A V-6 one with some options costs that much, and they are gonna give it more hp than the vette?

It makes perfect sense.

The current V6 has a TMV price of $28,549 this week. Also, it is getting a much more powerful V6 next year. From 3.2 liters to 3.6 liters which I am sure will not affect the price. Fully equipped will cost about $34,000. A fully equipped V series I am guessing will probably go for around $42K-$44K. Makes perfect sense.

I will take a fully loaded CTS with 400 HP.... at less than that... I am sure that you will see some 4-5 Grand rebate on this Vehicle

So I assume they are using the LS6 in it?? If so, that car will be around 45k i would think. Not a bad deal though if they make they interior look decent.

Damb, thats pretty impressive. I'll be interested to see if there is any other *additional* costs added. (options)

Still not hot on the style, but that'll be a nice ride for that $$

Hope it doesn't bomb like the Mark VIII

Siggy can you help me out look for that message of mine guessing how much the V Series CTS would cost and our argument? Seriously. How much did I guess it would cost? I know I had the most optimistic guess and if I am not mistaken, I think I was still high. Am I right?

Actually here it is:

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...s&pagenumber=2

I called it at $47K.

I think fully equipped this 400HP CTS will be around $44K at least. So I was high...Wow!

Our argument had nothing to do with price. It has to do with GM chaning their image overnight.

Sorry you didn't remember that. It was the main comparison of GM quality which sparked an argument. Not cost... And the fact you thought they are going to change overnight and all will be well. I could care less what it costs... I don't think I argued that...

Ya, good call on $!

After reading that whole discussion again. I wish I could re-word some of what I said... Some interesting points of view from a bunch of differnet people.

LOL, where do spell check, I think I spelled "luxury" wrong 100x in that thread LOL

Wow. 400hp. I've heard from autoweek that it runs around the Nurmburg (sp?) circuit faster than the M3.

For that price, I'd go domestic too.

Where did you read that? That would be very significant.

CTS vSeries lapped the circuit faster than M3 by a couple of seconds.

I read that too about a week ago, in one of my 10+ spy car links, damn it where is it...

It will have an LS1 or LS6 (Z06 motor) w/ 400hp...

Here the Vseries w/ re-designed front end - more aggressive & much better than current bumper design. Dropped w/ PS.

I might consider a Domestic also :P

I'm all over this car............

VETTE-POWERED CADDY?
Cadillac will roll out a 400-horsepower version of its new CTS sedan early next year. The hotted-up CTS will draw power from the same LS6 engine used in the top-of-the-line Corvette Z06, and it will mark the launch of a new generation of high-performance Caddys, a program TheCarConnection first reported on last year. Tentatively named CTSi, the vehicle is aimed at a lofty standard: “the goal is to beat the (BMW) M5 in every turn,” says a GM source. Initially, there had been some expectations that the performance sedan would use either a modified Cadillac Northstar V-8 or even a supercharged version of the current CTS V-6. But cost, complexity and availability issues came into the equation—and GM’s product guru Bob Lutz, gave thumbs up to the LS6 package after driving a prototype. Some packaging changes will have to be made to the LS6, so exact specs are still undetermined, though the CTSi is being described as “blisteringly fast.” The big V-8 will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. And there will be a subtle upgrade of the base CTS’s exterior and interior. Meanwhile, a “400-plus” horsepower XLR roadster is still on schedule using a supercharged version of the Northstar engine. It now appears, according to several Cadillac sources, that the powertrain will also feature a Formula One-style paddle shifting sequentially-shifting manual transmission.

Probably with w 4-speed GM auto doing 0-60 in 6flat with a 1/4 mile of 14.5. The car WILL look better lowered with 18" wheels, but that interior (which will be IDENTICAL to the new SUV) has to go.

Sounds impressive, we'll see. That costs less than the Vette.

I get autoweek and I never read anything about it beating the M3 around the Nurburgring. I will believe it once the car actually comes out. I think Cadillac claimed that the current CTS outran the 330i around the Nurburgring, in pre-production press articles.

Autoweek was not the online-mag that stated that, it was another online mag w/ a pic of the CTS Vseries lapping the tracks @ Nuremburg ...

Again...I will believe it when I see some actual data. I read an article that stated that the CTS was faster than the 330i a year or so ago. This was not true of course.

It's only a year away folks before at the dealers. We will know soon. The problem is that the M5 will be getting a 500HP V10 a year after the 400 CTS is out. And also the M3 now is getting a 360HP V8. So...we'll see where everyone is standing then.

The bottom line is that, a year ago, one could not even dream of an M3/M5 beater from Cadillac. Actually we could not even think of anything coming close to "a mile away" from both. Now we are getting this CTS V and look for how much. GM has already come a long way. And this is only the beginning.

GM is focused on cars more than ever. Before they were focusing only on trucks and that is why you see the crap you do on the highways from GM. Priorities have changed and so will our perception of Pontiac and Cadillac. It is getting close to that point I think. I am patiently awayting the moment when Europeans will be wishing to have USA-only sold cars to their shores for the prices we pay. Like we were drooling at the WRXs, Evos, Skylines, etc.
