Glorious highway 36
I recently came back from a camping trip in the shasta-trinity national forests (northern california - drove there from cleveland!) and man what a ride! The best part was highway 36 starting in red bluff, ca. Just out of red bluff it starts off with a series of small hills (10-15 ft), right after one another, with lots of blind turns between them. Going over those hills it was really easy to get the car airborne As you approarched Platina, they flattened out the the road as you began to wind through the mountains... very few banked turns, the speed limit would drop to 15mph around the edges of the moutains and they ment it.. 90 degree turns just 3-4 feet from 1000ft drops and no guard rails.
What a rush! I was exhausted from just the 80 miles or so between red bluff and the campsite in forest glen.
Anyone else been on this road? It's apparently really popular ride..
