getting better gas mileage
so lately i've been having to fill up with gas at around 240 miles or so and fill up before the light comes on, so anywhere around 12-13 gallons. Some of you guys are getting 300+ driving primarily city. I drive primarily city and i'm just wondering if there's something wrong with my car that i'm getting such bad mileage compared to some folks on the forum.
I check and fill up the tire pressure maybe every other time depending on how long it's been since the last fill up.
I don't have a lead foot and generally drive at or below 2k rpm.
I bought a k&n air filter around 3.5 years ago.
I don't carry much in the car to weigh it down.
Is there something that could be broken or needs serving on my car?
is there anything else i could do to get better mileage?

wat i do to get better milage is to drift in the highest gear possible when it is possible and try to slow down wayyyy before a red light to wait to see if it turns green to conserve gas by not having to down shift to 1st or 2nd.. it works well for me as i have kinda mastered it..
example is goin a constant 40 in 5th gear if on a slope or slight decline...

U should calculate mileage as accurate as possible, set the trip when u fill up, drive, then the next time you fill up divide your trip miles by the number of gallons it takes to top off --- but even so 240miles/13 gallons is 18.xx
not absolutely horrible for primarily city driving (assuming primarily is 90% city driving)

Because even some guys are reporting 300+ primarily city driving and i'm just wondering how on earth they are getting that.

Just for you...
last time i filled up i reset the trip OD and began hammering the throttle anywhere i could. I just refilled today and i get 23 mpg. I would say somethings up with your car if you drive metered and you got less than that...
all i can say is the ethanol blend at gas stations gives you less mpg. try straight up gasoline.

You said "I bought a k&n air filter around 3.5 years ago.". What is the mileage now? The filter may need cleaning. And if you have CLS, expect it to drink more gas than CLP.

I primarily drive 7miles to work and then 7miles back home everyday along a 45-50mph highway with about 20 stop lights along the trip and get between 22-24mpg in my 02 CL-S auto.
How many miles are on your car? Do you have a lead foot? How far do you normally drive to and from your destination?
My recommendations are to:
-USE SEAFOAM in your vac line and gas tank! This will clean a ton of carbon buildup in your engine/fuel lines.
-ONLY USE 91 or higher octane gas...this is a must IMO
-CLEAN YOUR FREAKING AIR FILTER...your local auto parts store should have a K&N "recharge kit"
You can get the Seafoam for under $10 and the K&N cleaning kit costs $10-$15

also is doing the seafoam easy for someone who isn't very mechanically knowledgeable such as myself? I really don't know anything about the engine
