GET this!? funny story i guess

SO, I'm going to throw my rear ebc rotors on the car and I take off my wheel and I notice my sway bar link sitting there with the bolt on the end all intact and not attached to anything. I look just past that and all i see is torn metal. The bracket ripped right apart from the hole on. So it literally got ripped right out. I just put the winters on and then noticed SHITTTY handling... I guess I found them PROBLEM! haha

called acura and it's a 20$ fix thank god.. so i'm gonna get both brackets new, so this won't happen again.

So.. maybe some of u with moog links and progress rsb may wanna think about getting those new from the dlr b4 they are no longer easily available.

and I don't drive my car hard at all!!! REALLY like i baby it.

i'll floor it like once a day. usually.. lol there are those days ur just feeling the vibe...., but like i said i'm easy on the suspension. in the corners I take them slow to save my tires and rims, cause there's madddd construction in the 905 416 .. GTA folks will know what i'm saying. and i've been driving all over that shyt.

Anyhoo just thought that'd make anyone else's day who's not going soo good.

2 me it's just another thing I gotta do along with an oil change and rotor swap... so i'll just make a nice saturday out of it.

But no end links? So does this mean the weak spot is all in the brackets and its not worth replacing the end links?

Cls progression, is it 20 for the brackets, or both the brackets and install?

Hmm, his bracket failed though, not his moog end links. I guess I should just replace them, they are only 40 bucks.

I had new OEM endlinks to use, so I didnt get Moog endlinks.

The endlinks are still pretty weak.

yea my dlr who has rape show prices only charges 20$ per side for this part. So 40 for both sides together. that is if you install yourself and on that note:

I looked and noticed there are 2 things you need to remove.. one is just a nut (that holds the strut together) and the other is a bolt i guess screwed onto something sturdy. so really straight forward assuming the bolts come off.

I'm in canada so the salt gets to shit no matter what. and those thing are weak anyways after looking at it. 1/8 inch steel maybe a lil more.... shyt.. such balls

if it happens again after replacing both I will buy new ones again and get the reinforced with something overkill.

2 bolts... literally.. one is just a nut that holds the strut on so u just gotta remove the nut... and then theres a bolt specifically for the bracket to hold it on.

I will get pics today as I have to do an oil change, rear rotors, and both rear brackets.

correction the 2 things you must remove are both bolts... one holds the strut assembly together so leave that bolt in.. and reverse it and the bracket will side off the end of the bolt (no need to remover the main bolt) just need to remove the bolt #2, comes right out. and there are 2 other nut you need to remove that hold on 2 lines..

ull need a 17mm, 14mm, 12mm, 10mm. to do the bracket and a tq wrench for some leverage. different sized extensions are a BIG HELP. I also broke my shitty 14 on the first nut.. so they may be a bitch for some ppl to do, never know.

and for the moog links you need a 15mm (preferably deep socket), and 9/16 wrench to stop it from spinning on the other side while u tighten it up.

REAL easy...

thank you acura for not making my life a bitch

takes 15 min after you do it the first time. jack up the back, take the wheel off, strut bolt, set bolt, then 2 bolts that hold lines to the bracket, as well as the endlink bolt.. if anything that part takes the longest. im gonna have a friend weld a plate onto mine cause $17 a pop gets annoying..

After some debating amongst myself, lol I think the reason mine broke is because when I got my moog links put on they had to weld off the old end links... and that super heating of the 9 year old metal brace makes it much weaker under torsion strees.

Therefore I conclude it broke due to the fact I had to put new links on the car.

The new bracket doesn't look like it can be ripped apart. Especially the way I drive.. I don't beat this car up at all.

it all fun and game until you crash for real..and then it's too late to.

I was addicted to the feeling to. to the point where I put my safety second, and lets put it this way. everyone in the car could have been killed. and we were able to walk away.

from that day on I changed my shit.. and got an auto car so I toned my shit the fuck down.

I still am addicted to HP and cars and speed... but now I know it's not a game, nor is it a joke. Just B careful man.

I know you may think "this guys a pussy." But I can assure you it's the opposite. When you almost die because you wanted to have some fun!?!?!?! yo change ur shit.

I just hope u don't have to learn the way I did.

My right side bracket broke exactly the same as shown in the picture a few posts above. I have a eibach rear sway, st brackets and napa auto endlinks. I asked for moog but got regular napa endlinks. Didn't realize until I saw a pic on here.

Anyway My sway bar bracket snapped like 2 days after lowering my car...? I was dropped 4 inches on F2's. Went back in there to adjust the height because it was too mf'n low and noticed the broken bracket... Bought both sides installed them and haven't looked back since (5 months). They are def weak. I actually read a thread about a guy who after his brackets broke he used heim joints instead of endlinks that he mounted to a metal bracket in double shear to try and fix the problem. Looked pretty cool! Will look for that thread.

i push my car past safety all the time. have crashed twice.. im not calling you a wuss at all bro... its not for everyone. i dont think your a good driver until you have crashed pushing it.. you dont know what the limit is until you reach it and go too far. the best F1 drivers have crashed multiple times =). crashed the CL and a jeep.

lol it's funny u say that cause that's what I thought too (you become a better driver)

but everyone else don't see it that way.

More than anything it showed me what I care more about. my safety

which is why i try and keep near the speed limit and am SUPER cautious now.

Commuting seems SO easy and safe and predictable, when it's anything but. PPL who've crashed or been in a crash will know wtf I'm talking about.

for example. last night a 335BMW turned into my buddy on the highway in the left lane and made him swerve and hit the cement barrier at just over 70mph.

luckily he just busted up the front left suspension and wheel and some scratches on the side bumper. but my buddy was like every other a young gun, thinks driving is fun and blah blah nothing will happen. Now he's changed his entire perspective! QUOTE "Dude when u get in a crash it's just so fucking scary, and when I got out of my car I didn't even think it was real, like it's an unexplainable feeling".
