Fuel mileage study
Does anyone have a link to that online fuel mileage study? I think I read it here, but I may be wrong....
Anyway, it was a study (unscientific) that compared fuel mileage under various conditions with the a/c on and the windows up vs a/c off and the windows down.
Anyone remember?

No, it wasn't a dealer study or anything....
It basically came to the conclusion that you'll get the same gas mileage driving with your a/c on and windows up as you'll get driving with your a/c off and windows down.
I guess the added wind drag of having your windows down is equal to the extra power needed to run your a/c compressor.

Here is a link you will find interesting (I remember reading a mileage article on windows up vs. air conditioning, but I forget where it was). This link has good info...
Title: "What gets the better gas mileage: windows up, AC on, or windows down, AC off?"
Link: http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_393.html
Small excerpt:
Windows up, AC off: 35 MPG
Windows up, AC on: 34.4 MPG
Windows down (all four), AC off: 33.8 MPG
Note: A rebuttal states that it all depends on the car!!!

Unfortunately, I had a cousin that passed away last Thursday and spent Saturday at his funeral in upstate New York.
What a fuckin' shame. He was only 34 years old and died of cancer. He was diagnosed one week before Thanksgiving last year and lived for less than a year after his diagnosis.

Cecil Adams!! I have a book written by him called The Straight Dope.
I forgot all about it, though. But it's definitely interesting reading.......
