Are Fuel Injector Cleaners worthwhile?

Any of you guys use a fuel additive/injector cleaner in your Cl-S? If so, how often, what kind do you use, and do you really think it helps?

I put some TECHRON Concentrate Fuel System Cleaner in my last tank of gas. My car has rather low mileage *and* I use Shell most of the time. I was just curious about it since I had read about the big 3 auto makers using Chevron for their EPA tests.

Did it help? I can't tell the difference, but I wasn't having any problems. I thought I would just give it a try (as a preventive measure)...

You might want to try Consumer Reports -- maybe they have a good long term study on this stuff...

Here is the link to the TECHRON page (with the TECHRON *and* "other" Chevron brand gas additives (for various problems);

When my CL-S was new, I was using 93 octane gas from the local 7-11 (Fina). Around 500 miles or so the engine performance was somewhat crappy. Knocks, hesitations, and a decrease in power were common. To remedy this I put in some Gumout Fuel Injection Cleaner with a full tank of Mobil 93 gas. I've had no problems since and now only use Mobil, Exxon, Texaco, or Shell 92 octane or higher. I currently have 5900 miles on the car.

I use to use it on my old car 5 years plus old. and when i put some injector cleaner it would give it a little more kick. But i don't quite think we need it since our cars are fairly new.
