Fuel Guage issues???

u notice if your fuel guage drops faster under the halfway mark??? mine seems to do that...takes a while to go from FULL to HALF, then plummits after that

i remember on my '89 Accord LXI it took forever to go from FULL to HALF, then it was dead weight after that...i used to travel from Long Island to Villanova, PA (outside Philly) and just BARELY break away from the FULL mark...it was kinda funny at the time.

I NOTICE THAT IN ALL CARS, AFTER HALF WAY YOU GET LESS MILES. QUESTION, ON A 3.0 WHAT WOULD BE GOOD MILEAGE FOR A FULL TANK. I AM GETTING 270.

I read some where that this was done by design.

By making the fuel gauge non-linear, it makes the driver think that the car is getting better MPG than it really is. Just another ploy by the automanufactures to make the car seem better than it is.

I think it's a Honda/Acura thing...same thing happenes on my 99' Accord.

Anyways I think they try and keep your hopes high since you look down at your mileage and your on 200 miles with a half a tank left...then the next thing you know your gas light starts going off.
