Fuel Filter Replacement = $300!!!

I just hit 50k on my 01 Cl-S. Though the schedule calls for a fuel filter at 60k miles I thought I'd catch it a bit early. The dealer was out of stock and told me to hold on to my $300 until next time! Yikes. Apparently the filter is in the tank. Does this price sound normal?

Dude... this car HAS NO FILTER!!!

There is a screen on the bottom of the fuel-pump (near the pickup)... that's it! I think he is charging you for the fuel-pump assembly!!

its a scam, if your car works don't replace any filters.... if you have a problem replace it.

There is absolutely no mention of fuel filter in the 2001 Acura CL in the maintenance section of the owner’s manual. Where does Honda say a fuel filter should be replaced at 100K miles?

I have a pdf file of the actual bulletin that Acura techs use for maintenance recommendations for the 2003 CL. No where does in mention routine service of the in-tank fuel filter.

Does your car stumble or bog down on wide open throttle? If not the the filter is probably still good.

Might be a misprint in the manual too. I can't imagine we don't have filter on at all...

We have a fuel filter, it's in the fuel tank. What we're talking about is if it is a maintenance item or not..

Yeah, its item #6. And its NOT a filter.... its a screen I believe. All Honda/Acura's have a screen on the fuel-pump pickup. Most earlier Honda's have another in-line filter under the hood as well.
