I know guitarist Mick Thomson (number 7) of Slipknot. I actually met him on the AudiWorld forum and began exchanging e-mails talking old Metal, guitars and amps. When he came into Dallas on October 6th I went down to the venue and hung out for a few hours before his show, eventually loading up in my car and making a run to a local MARS Music to buy some guitars. Mick, guitarist Jim Root and percussionist Shawn Crahan couldn't help themselves in complimenting the car, the color, it's amenities and overall performance.
This was especially suprising coming from Mick, a guy who owns a modded S4, a couple of modded Corrados, a 10 second Grand National and is picking up an '01 Viper GTS after the UK leg of his current tour. His exact words were, "I'm impressed. I didn't know the Japanese made cars like that." If I'd had less trouble with mine, I'd be a lot more enthusiastic as well.
Oh, and if you think "rock stars" are dicks, these three were some of the coolest, most down to Earth people I've ever met.
