Ford Won't Sell Patrol Cars to Police Agencies Suing It
July 18 (Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co., the world's second-
largest automaker by sales, has told police agencies suing over
alleged fuel tank defects in patrol cars that their business
isn't welcome.
Ford sent lawyers for 35 law-enforcement agencies a letter
telling them no carmaker can meet standards for gas tank safety
sought by the lawsuits, which stem from claims that Crown
Victoria police cars tend to catch fire and explode in rear-end
collisions.

I'm ok either way. I think the PDs should sue but it will be difficult for another car company to step up and meet the standard. Crown Vic is not the only police car on the road.
You and I will eventually pay for this. Some way some how, you and I will foot the bill.
