I know what your saying. I bent 3 rims on the BQE on my last car and I just got a rip on one my tires last week on the BQE. The best you can do is get road hazard to cover the damage.

I feel your pain, and I'm still on the stock 17's.... I've had one bubble, and 2 flats (one pothole and one curb) on the stock michelins... Got a nice chunk out of the sidewall on one of the Yokohamas I'm running now. I'm just tough on tires tho'.

Bay Area roads are no better. I had to replace a Volk wheel this year from pothole damage and over the last 3 years, 3 tires bubbled on me because of potholes.

Damn B, I feel that pain, sometimes I feel like I have to look out more for potholes then traffic, seems like those damn holes come faster. Another terrible spot that has taken 2 of my wheels with tires is the Harlem River Drive towards the Triboro Bridge, once I had 1 broken wheel and a blown tire in one day there...

I pick up my gf out there almost every night and I drive about 30 mph between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Hamilton Ave exit because of all the holes out there. Then I get on Hamilton and do anout 20. I can't afford buying new tires and rims.

why does everyone make a fuss about not getting 19s or 20s because of potholes? if you hit a large pothole it will F up your tires or rims no matter what size rims you have.

just drive carefully and stay a good distance from cars in front of you so you can survey the road you will be driving on.

sorry to hear all of these horror stories

true, but the larger the wheels you have, the easier and more prone they are to bending or even cracking :troutslap

When I drove my car in NYC I thank God I had a bra cause the under side of my front bumper would have been all scatched to hell if it wasn't there. With my susp. & rims/tires I was scraping the front on some of the massive potholes, & uneven dips in the road.

Even the stock rental cars I get sometimes get scraped up. It's nuts!

YOOOO< I drive on the BQE all the time, i know that set of potholes, its like a setup, because the potholes before the "ONE" set you up to drive right ito it while avoiding the preliminary holes. and on top of that, they are hidden in the tunnel without light. I have 19" RJs and 235/35/19 Toyo proxes 4, hit those holes repeatedly, No damage whatsover, just a rubber scuff mark on the lip that rubbed off. Telling you that the Toyos are a deam, in over a year, no bubbles or anything, and I have hit some potholes that are bone jarring, the traction control actually blinks like crazy after i hit this one. So invest in a reliable tire and a decently built wheel and you should have no problem. did I mention I have a 3 inch drop too. I'm living proof.

its all about the tire preasure!!! I am on the BQE everyday and I hit some nice potholes, but just keep your preasure up and you will be fine, unless you are doing 80 and slam into a krater, that is a different story!

But If U Keep The Pressure High, And U Hit A Nasty Pothole Wont The Tire Blow Since There Is No Room For The Tire To Fluctuate?

Not with a quality tire. I run 46 psi on all four of my 235/35/19 Nitto 555's. I've literally SLAMMED into some decent-size potholes a few times which shakes the whole car like a bomb went off. But not one bit of rim damage. I admit I've had 2 rims bend on me: the first time was when the rims were new and the tires were only inflated to 36 psi; the second was inevitable... a 1-foot deep by 2-foot wide CRATER on a road being resurfaced.
