A few thoughts for making our cars faster
A few thoughts for those of you looking for more speed and better handling, some are extreme.
1.lose the spare tire and tools- We have TLC which will tow for 50 miles ~-30-40lbs
2. lighter weight battery ~-30lbs (there is one that is 16lbs)
3.Remove exhaust Resonator and Cat (unless in California)
~15-40lbs (haven't weighed these)
4.Lighter rims ~-2lbs per rim (Sprung weight)
5.Carbon Fiber hood/ fiberglass ~-60+lbs
6. Lexan windshields and windows ~-50lbs
7.Racing seats (for you extremists) ~20-30lbs per seat
8.Lighter rotors ~1-2lbs per rotor
9.Lighter weight muffler japanese street racers have some that are only like 12lbs.
10.Go on a diet and don't wear shoes or a hat
These numbers are not perfect because I didn't strip my car down, to weigh each piece exactly, these are just some ideas for those of you willing to compromise a little comfort for more speed and handling. You can only imagine our cars weighing in at around 3200lbs with some bolt-ons and a SC. Remember its all about the power to weight ratio!!!

at the 1/4 mile track i go to they have a car scale....mine weighed in at 3365 lbs. with no spare, jack, AEM intake, Comptech Headers, Comptech Exhaust, O.Z. Superleggeras 18 x 8(18lbs. a piece) 225x40x18 Yokohama Parada Spec-2, and no one in the car......im pretty sure that the Comptech Headers and Exhaust weigh less than the stock.....

Not worth gutting out the car for fraction of a difference in speed.
But if that's what you want to do, remove the re-enforcement bar for the bumpers. You'll lose at least 30lbs.
