Falken Zeix 512s in 225/45
Got these tires put on last weekend and I like them very much.
$408 shipped from www.discounttiredirect.com
225/45 94W, 360 treadwear rating, z-rated all-season, fit 7" rim.
That meets or exceeds every requirement for the 2001 CLS stock rims.
I'm running them with around 37/38pounds warm (was stopped to get gas before I went over to the air machine so they weren't exactly "hot" at the time I filled them).
![](http://www.wam.umd.edu/~jinman/falken1.jpg)
![](http://www.wam.umd.edu/~jinman/falken2.jpg)
Only downside: I can't chirp second anymore and if I am at a slightly rolling start I usually can't even peel out in first if I stomp it!
![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
So if you're like me and are looking for an affordable, performance all-season tire, these might be a good choice for you. Please ignore my filthy car - it's been raining all week.

It's a combination of dirt and probably some hay or whatever shit gets stuck to a car when you drive back roads to avoid an accident blocking up the road that's your main route home last night in the rain.

SinnedTL - Thanks! ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Loseit: They're quieter than my stock tires and ride same as stock. I've heard some people don't like how Falkens ride, but these have been just fine. Then again, these are their latest performance all-season tire so maybe they've changed something in these to create a better ride than past Falken tires.
I was going to buy Yokohamas but they were only 3-season tires. The Yokos and these Falkens are pretty much the only two affordable tires that meet all of the car's requirements. I refuse to use tires that don't meet the weight requirement or don't recommend use with a 7" rim.

As I said, I got them on Saturday and it rained all week. Plus I rarely have time to drive aggressively on back roads anymore since I work all day. Maybe Saturday I'll get a chance to try them out.
I do remember one on-ramp I took on Saturday with a little more authority than I used to with the stock tires.![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Put it this way - they're at LEAST as good as the stock tires, grip-wise.

any reason u went with those instead of ST-115?
Their site ( http://www.falkentire.com/html/produ...azenis115.htm# ) surely has tons of good things to say about how good the ride quality and performance and durability it has

Yeah, congrats on the new job dude.
What are you doing now?
I most likely will get a set of the Falkens to throw on for the winter, since I still have my toyos on now.
Thanks for the write up!

No “squealing” around corners no matter how hard I push it.
It does eventually slide and make the rear end kick out, but it’s fairly easy to control if you know the limits of the road.
If I accelerate too HARD from a stop the fronts tend to “hop” instead of spin so that’s the only drawback of being so sticky I guess.
I was losing air pressure in one last week and I thought I had a leak, but it turned out to be a loose valve inside one of the stems. It was easily fixed with a twist of the special tightening tool.
While at the tire shop they measured the tread depth and it showed that I was at about 60% remaining after 7,200 miles.
Since I’ll be putting the snows on soon I should be able to get another spring, summer & fall out of them next year.
Then I’ll need to buy new ones in the spring of 2004.
I was worried about clearance from the Comptech springs and aftermarket wheels so I went with 225/40/18 the first time.
I’ll probably go a little wider next time because 235/40/18 puts the outside diameter closer to stock.

The fronts spin like a MUTHER when I shift hard into second since I got my headers.
I didn’t buy this car to drive like granny on her way to Sunday mass.
Actually most of the wear is probably from blasting around the corners out by my house.
Some of my roads look like those in the 6-Speed Acura commercial
You know the one where they meet that realtor up on top of the hill and say “I’ll take it” ?

Does anyone have a quick summary of the different tires Falken makes (all season, summer, etc) and what their approximate prices are? I would like to swap out the rubber on my '03 since the stocks squeal all over the place. I don't want to spend too much, but at the same time, I don't want to compromise safety and performance. I have been looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but hell, that won't leave me much cash left in my savings!

Time to catch up:
I went with the Zeix over the Azenis since I wanted all-season vs. 3-season.
My car is around 2" drop with coilovers and camber kits. I didn't get it aligned completely last weekend so I hope to do that this weekend. It was run over a scuff machine and came up within specs so if it's out of perfect alignment it's not by much.
I'm currently working as service manager for a Mitsubishi dealer. Thanks for the employment props.
I hope the 360 treadware rating is for real because I'd hate for these to wear out faster than the stock tires. The stocks are 330treadwear, IIRC, and with all my silly driving and bad camber still lasted 37k miles and would have easily made 40k.
