Extended Service Contract??!!

Ten months and 9k miles into CL-S ownership and I've started to notice the transmission stumbling as it searches for the gear it wants, among 3rd, 4th, & 5th in particular. Mind you, I'm 56 years old and drive it like the old fart I am. The car HAS NOT been abused or raced.
So I say to myself, "Self" I say, "you're probably gonna want Acura to 'OWN' this car and it repairs as long as possible." Thus, I check into the extended service policy available from Acura (7yr/100k). Said policy is available for the first 24 months/24k miles. The price quoted by my local Acura shop (Butler Acura, Ashland, Or) is $1987. Now my question to this august assemblage is, from your collective experience, is this a "fair traded" (fixed price) item or is it an Acura product with a soft (negotiable) price? Who paid less than $1987 and from which dealer did you buy it?

Check this topic out from the TL board. It has some info on Acura warrantees, as well as 3rd Party and warrantees through Insurance companies. Happy reading!! :D
