Experimenting on making a faceplate...LOOKS GOOD
Me and Titand19 are making faceplates for our cars and boy does it look better than expected I thought it would look ghetto but really not bad. This is not a finished product so please don't critique I still have to line the plate with genuine leather with foam and all....end result will look very good and you can see the radio is perfectly straight and neat.

Well I can take pics and show you exactly how is done so you can see how difficult it is to get the perfect measurements. I am wrapping it with some black leather and foam behind it to give it a 3D effect. I expect nothing but the best looking face plate available...to all of you who feel limited with the Bose because of the faceplate. That is what happened to me and the prices I got for a custom piece were all in the $200 and one for $300. I am willing to make the piece and wrapped for about half the price. Let me know if you guys are interested.

Im making one for a single din deck which will sit in the center and one for 7" screen which will sit a little lower to allow clearance of the screen so it doesn't hit the a/c buttons. My hardest problem was finding the right color leather or vinyl that matched perfectly with the dashboard but Im working on getting some custom material...but the black is very nice because of the darker colors on the dash. I had to use two custom cut pieces of wood that holds the radio nicely snug and very firm no rattles no vibrations. Everything gets screwed on the factory holes making it very clean install.
I don't know about Streeteffectz because they are the best around but I when I wanted my face they said they use plexiglass. In the pic above that is what I originally used but Ive switch to wood for cleaner install and used a leather trim instead of painted plexi. I want to see streeteffectz faceplate I imagine it will be very HOT

Thanks for the compliments but Im still not done I will do an even better job on Titand19 car cause he has a TV. I still want to use the same color gray like the rest of the ebony interior but I still haven't found it...close but not precise...if not the black doesn't look to bad

Radio questions
Hello, I am new to this forum. I just purchased a 2001 cl. What a fricken amazing car this is.
I have some questions regarding the radio. I have almost completed my custom mp3 player which consists of a mini computer, ( probably in thye trunk) and 7 in 16:9 touchscreen with custom programmed media engine that plays dvds and movies, mp3s a nd othyer good junk.
I am thinking of either purchasing a new head unit and having the screen retract into the console. If i do it this way the screen will take up on din and the radio 1 din. I am also thinking of just using an amp in the back and the pc as the complete radio with no headunit. If i do this the screen can be mounted into the where the radio is now.
My questions are how big is the current radio 1 din, 2 din, 1.5 din? Can i remove that other thing in there that I think holds a notepad and a pen? And has anyone done something like this before. I would be grateful for any comments, suggestions or criticisms.
Thanks Alot Guys.
