Exhaust Fitment.....

I'm looking at different exhaust systems but it doesn't seem like there is much selection. I've looked up both the OEM parts schematics for the 99-02 Accord V6 and the 01-03 CL. It appears like the exhausts are interchangeable. Is this correct?

Also, what is the factory diameter of the single pipe on the CL-S?

They are not directly interchangeable. You will need to modify it.

2.5 is the way to go since that is how thick the downpipe is with the headers so keeping the piping consistent for as long as possible is what u want. the cat is 2.25 i think so that's restrictive too if u go to 2.5 or 2.75.

Not that I know of.

IIRC that large of piping is more detrimental to performance than it is positive. ie. not enough back pressure

I used 2 3/4 on an I-4 as the IIRC said that it was too big as well, but it worked for my application. There is a 3.0 Accord running around with a 3" exhaust and it sound pretty nice and he says he is happy with it.

I would be running the headers into a "fat cat" 2.75" x 3.00" cross if this would work, but I may just do a full 2.75" cat-exhaust. I was just curious if anyone is running it on the 3.2.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the IIRC for racing... my bad.

There is a local SCR that said I wasn't supposed to be using 2-3/4" exhaust as their members were against it due to performance issues, but then they lost races. lol

exhaust is weird tho because you can gain power top end by upping the piping and increasing ease of flow... but low end is gonna hate the low back pressure and ur daily driving days of copious tq is gonna come to an end.

sure wider piping will win races, but it won't help u up a 10 degree hill on the highway at 2200rpms lol

I primarily want top end though... I'm on the interstate everyday (and it's not stop and go) with minimal city driving... Plus this summer I have a 5k road trip, so the additional top end will be nice then too. lol

You spend all youre time above 5k rpm? Remember that you cant use bolt on CL mufflers with anything larger then 2.5" as that will be a bottleneck.

Depending on the headers you run, some collectors are 2.25", some are 2.5". I dont remember what the stock POS manifold was though, I cut it into little pieces and tossed it.

just get a exhaust cutout .the only way to have best of both worlds. quiet when you want & super wicked when u wonna play less attention than try to find the perfrect sound or power .
even better with boost

I'm not going to be using the stock mufflers. I'm looking at doing a single HKS Hi-Power Carbon-Ti with a 75mm inlet. The headers I'm looking at are 2.5 and then I'd run a "Fat-Cat" that opens up the exhaust to either 2.75" or 3" from the 2.5". There will be a resonator so it's not ridiculously loud but finding the guy that does the SS bending locally is not easy as the last guy that did it isn't running exhaust anymore!!!

finding a real quality place that does exhaust work for a reasonable price is like finding a jeeny in a bottle.

still haven't found the bottle yet tho... lol

My friend's dad owns a muffler shop, and he works there too, but they don't run stainless and if I bring it in, they won't bend it. They said they could run the piping with my muffler & resonator for cheap as always, but living in Nebraska means I will have to probably replace the sections about every year & a half. Don't really want to do that.
