EVO VIII Experience...

Ok.... I didn't race the guy... cuz he didn't want to race. However, I did get a feel of what the car is capable of.

It was a nice-looking blue model.... clearly distinguishable as an EVO 8. By the way, the wing makes it look kinda wierd!

Anyways... we were getting onto the freeway as I was returning from UPS. He kinda floored it on the on-ramp.... and that really displayed how that car handles.... cuz I was afraid of spinning out and was forced to be very careful. He only floored it onto the freeway and I floored it as well. At like 75-80mph... he let off and wouldn't do anything anymore. The way we were accelerating, I think I might have edged him out if we continued to 100+, however it would be been a VERY slow catch-up process.... maybe I wouldn't have caught him... but I do think I could have given enough time.

It would have been miserable if we had met at the line because he would have just stomped on it... got me by a car-length of two at the start and then let-off at like 60mph thinking I would never catch up!

Sheet....... maybe I need another turbo... cuz then I'd still lose off the line... but maybe catch up... or... maybe a nice 100-shot of N20... that ought to make up for any lost ground

I would really fear an Evo 8 with any kind of mods done to it!

I realize the car is called the lancer evolution... my dad had one about 7 years ago! There are actually several visible signs... the hood, FMIC, wing, exhaust, wheels, front grill, rear valence, side-skirts (although the regular one could have this)... and above all... the thrust of the car!

There were two of them running up at LACR last time I went(2700ft), and they were running 13.9s all day. Both of the guys just bought the cars, and were learning to drive them at the track. I was very impressed, not to mention Mitsui did a great job on the suspension and those Recaros...hmmm...Recaros......

Dave

Oh, I know one of the guys paid $10K over sticker...OUCH!!!!

That car could probably run 13's even with a somewhat mild launch... probably take off another 2/10th's with a more aggressive departure.

I suppose once you get out of the hole and don't mis-shift, you really can't screw up a pass!

At Englishtown there was a EVO with intake, Boost controller, SAFC running mid 12s....i think 12.55 or something to be exact.

Yeah this and of course the STi are going to be incredibly nasty when they start going for big numbers.

I'm going to Englishtown weather permittign this week. ( If it rains then next week.) I'll give a full report of any Evos or CL's I see and if some one can host a video then you guys can see it too.
I really can't wait to see what a stock one can do at a good track at low altitude ie. Englishtown Raceway.

At Englishtown, my official prediction would be 13.3-.4 with good weather. Let me know if I'm close.

13.9's? LOL! Were those guys retarded, or were the cars not even broken in yet, and they were taking it easy?

You should be close is say the best run will be a 13.32.... if they are stock.

Well if Dan, the guy with the 12.5 pass shows up, you should see some nice runs there 97snake.

I think stock someone around here in the NOVA area put down a 13.3. Now he has a Boost controller and runs 13.0 and 13.1 all day long...

Those 13.9's are at Palmdale. Traction sucks and its at 2700'... its easily 5/10th's or more slower up there!
