i don't like how the door handles are taped off, and the moldings, when my car was painted everything was removed, glass, moldings, and door handles, mirrors, thats always the best way to paint, where there is tape there is a paint edge which can lift

Whenever they do it like shown here the edge of the paint line is going to be noticeable and it will start to flake off in time.
It might take several months or even a year, but it WILL happen.
A quality shop will always spend the time to remove the chrome trim and door hardware.
The glass is a plus, but it should be done as well if you want it to last more then a year or two.

you guys are right, tape lines are a definite concern of mine, and experience will tell if they are blended correctly, should they be seen or not, hopefully taken care after the clearcoat, buffing with a 1500 and 2000 specially since its black where everything can be seen.
i will bring it to their attention to see what they say about the tape lines and masking. if anything's a plus lifetime warranty on work and paint, bring it in, cause hell, get another paint job

While you’re asking questions, ask them why the roof and mirrors aren’t being painted.
If the paint color isn’t EXACT, that’s gonna show.
As for the clearcoat, that’s gonna be done before the tape is removed so I would imagine the paint and clearcoat will stop at the same point.

i'm glad you guys are meticulous as i am.
the roof and mirros are not painted because it will be exact, using sikkens electronic measuring system to determine exactly the amount of flakes, black, etc. .in fact i was watching it and it measures to the thousandths. i'm not really worried about that. .
you guys brought up a good point about paint lines but from the prior work i've seen i haven't seen any. .let me give them a ring and cause a little havoc

hopefully aint no maaco! actually the the bumpers hood and trunk needed to be replaced because of an accident, so those care just needed to be painted and instead of blending it with just the quarterpanel, the whole panel is being painted. well i talked to to them and they said since it is the same body color the tape lines will be sanded down to the original body and the difference will not be known. from their words, to prevent the flaking and peeling after a couple months or two or years, it has been sanded down prior to the base coat being applied.
they promise no tape lines. work and paint is guaranteed for life. if there are any problems with paint at all or the work done they stand by their work, so they said bring it in if anybody could tell. we'll wait and see the final product, take some pics when its done.

If you're repainting the whole car, why'd you choose to stay with the factory color? I mean, black looks awesome, but if I were to repaint the whole car I'd go for something different. I wish I could repaint my CL a dark metallic midnight blue.

as long as its sanded down with a 1500 and a 2000 no lines will be present, at least if done correctly. .if done quickly and an uneven coat from the base to the clear with an improper prep then problems would quickly arise. .it takes a whole day just to buff/sand properly.
