engine oil

I read almost every post here on engine oil, and trying to figure something out, so far everyone here is using Mobil 1 oil which is a synthetic oil, and they are changing thier oil every 4000-7000 miles, I have a 2001 cls with about 27,000 miles on it and this will be my second oil change since i've bought the car used, and I was wanting to know if I should switch over to mobil 1, i live in fl and with the weather here was also wondering which weight oil i should use, or should i stick to the factory recomendation of 5w-30 reg oil. I read also that the synthetic oil could increase gas mileage, One more dumb question, was wondering just about how many quarts is everyone using for an oil change. I want to change over to synthetic but was wondering if i should wait til the car gets higher mileage, or do i even need to wait.

do not wait until the car has higher mileage. The more time elapses that you use normal oil, the more mineral deposits and gunk build up in the system. When you put synthetic in, itll cause all these to come loose into your system (unless you go have your system flushed somewhere, which is recommended anyway)

Using synthetic will keep mineral deposits and such from building up, and wont cause your seals to deteriorate.

I have a 3000gt so i dont know how much oil to use on your car. I have 125k miles, that being the only reason i havent switched to synthetic on this car.. I heard with high mileage on a natural oil car.. some of those deposits and gunk are keeping seal leaks sealed.... When I had my civic I used mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30 and that was fine(I live in florida as well). But if your car says 5w-30 on it, then thats your safest bet.

I would switch to synthetic.. but pay someone to flush the system first and then refill with synthetic.. you still have relatively low mileage. Hope this helps
