End of Lease?

Has this happened to anyone else.I get my car inspected.I am over the mileage, everything else is within specs.I figured out that I would owe $800 for excess mileage.I get a letter in the mail yesterday from Acura stating that I would owe an estimated amount of $1075! I was like WTF! Has anyone else got figures that were way off at the end of the lease? Thanks for the info.John

Doesn't your lease agreement spell out the charges for excess mileage? Maybe they are using "new" numbers. I'd show them your contract and the cost for the mileage overage. Have they told you what the $1,075 was for? Maybe they're adding some kind of damage charge.

Other than that, I would expect the end of lease charges would be right out of the contract.

Good luck.

It is just an estimate, but check what else they are "estimating" ie. dings, paint chips, etc. Did you lease through AHFC? If so call them up!

Definitely check your AHFC lease agreement. IIRC, wear and tear up to $1,500 is waived. This may or may not apply to excess mileage, however.

AHFC can go to HELL in a burning Integra!!

Rant mode = "on"
I had the same crap happen to me when I traded in for
the CLS. They hit me with misc charges for missing owners manual (which was in the glovebox) excessive tire wear (I recieved new tires 3 months before) and misc body repairs.

First of all, as some of you guys know, I keep my cars stright
and the last I would do is try and pull some dumb sh#% esp
when I was getting another Honda.

I called AHFC and told them the car was in perfect shape when the dealer took it over and if there is a problem with it then you have to take that up with the Gen Mangager.

This was not what the dealer and the AHFC service guy wanted to here
$500 bones I paid to lose this headache
(org. $800)

They threatened my credit, they said I was wrong in the matter, and they were not going deal with this any further so basically prepare for legal action.

FK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AHFC
KILL THEM ALL WITH FIRE!!

Rant mode "off"

I just turned mine in thru GE Capital. Already got my security deposit back. The terms of the excess mileage should be specifically spelled out in your lease. You didn't say how much mileage over you were but computing at a standard $0.15 per mile would indicate you to be over by 7166 miles. Is that about correct?

Fuck leases. I am so pissed my GF leased her 03 TLS without talking to me. Dumbasses. If you can't afford to buy the car, maybe it's not the car for you.

Please not another lease hate thread! Some like it, some don't, some have luck, some don't, it's for some people, & not for others. Leave it at that.

I'd also go with what the contract says. Have any documention on the inspection? They should have given you a written report of the things needed, & not needed on the car including the milage adjustment, & the $$ amont you were responsable for. The $1500 credit for lease end damage does not include milage. Also since it's an 01, AHFC didn't start that program untill later, so it's a good chance your lease is not included.
