Easiest kill ever! TL-S vs. Civic Si
So tonight, I'm coming home from my friend's house. He had just gotten home from school last night (he goes out-of-state), and I hadn't seen him all semester. So I went over to hang out for a little bit.
It was around 6ish, getting dark out. I was traveling northbound on Woodward (yep, the "Woodward Dream Cruise" Woodward
) which is a major road. I was crossing Square Lake Road, which is another major road, about to make a U-turn and get westbound on Square Lake Road.
Right before I was about to make the turn, I noticed a white car pulling out of the gas station in the corner. I noticed the clear corners, then saw that it was a Civic Si, the new one. Had a fart cannon sticking out sideways in the back, definitely lowered, too. So I got behind him (or not.. explained later), made the U-turn, and both of us went westbound on Square Lake Road. It's a 4-lane road, so I slowed down, waited until traffic passed us, and I started dicking around. I got next to the Si, and noticed, through the tinted glass, that it was a girl. Pretty cute, too. Totally did not expect that. :o
So I popped it into second in SS, and messed around for a few seconds. She wouldn't bite, so I slowed down, waited 'til she pulled up next to me, and next thing I know, she gunned it. Dang. I mashed the throttle, but I was going too fast to drop down to first.
I was at about 3500 RPM in second at this time. I was soooo pissed that I was stuck in second gear.
She got the jump on me, about a car length, and I thought I was going to get my ass kicked. But revs built up quick, and I hit VTEC, hit third, VTEC again, and just before hitting 4th, I backed down....
Holy hell, I had put BUS lengths on her!! I was so shocked of the outcome. It made me proud of my car, and yet lost respect for these "sport coupes" (my brother's '01 Eclipse GT is a joke, too).
It was definitely fun racing this li'l Si.
Lucky for her that I didn't drop down to first, because it would've been REAL ugly then.

Those SI's are the ugliest things ever, looks more like a ford focus. At least the older Si's looked cool, and girls actually look good in them. But i love that term fartcan, those sound like crap. It is just such a good example of what not to do.

The should have dropped the K20A motor into the EX and be done with it; instead they strove for mediocrity. And according to Tom Elliott (bonehead), you can forget about ANY Type R models coming stateside.

To be honest, I really never knew how well the TL-S would stack up against these "sport compacts". My first race ever against a sport compact ended in disastrous outcomes, getting my ass handed to me by a modded '95 Integra GS-R. Since then, I've been weary of sport compacts.
I think it was pretty obvious that this Si only had an exhaust system, or if more, very minor mods.
